What should you do if you bought it?
- Check the bottle for the 12-ounce size, black cap, and one of the four affected Best By dates.
- If it matches, do not consume it. Return it to an H-E-B store for a full refund, as directed by the recall notice.
- Wash and sanitize surfaces that may have contacted the dressing or contaminated food. FDA’s general guidance is to follow the instructions in the specific recall notice and clean affected surfaces; it does not call for buying a particular product. See FDA’s food recall guide.
The recall notice lists fever, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain as possible Salmonella symptoms. It says severe bloodstream complications are rare. If you feel ill, contact a healthcare provider and mention the possible exposure; the notice did not report illnesses tied to this product as of publication.
Is the 27-state recall the same as the salad dressing recall?
No. The 27-state claim is not supported by the FDA notice for Salata dressing. It appears to mix that recall with a separate FDA investigation involving Taylor Farms iceberg lettuce and Cyclospora.

The state counts and illness figure in the lettuce column refer only to the separate Cyclospora incident, not to the dressing. FDA said recalled lettuce should no longer be available in stores or restaurants. Its lettuce investigation page lists diarrhea, appetite and weight loss, stomach cramps or pain, bloating, gas, nausea, and fatigue as common Cyclospora symptoms, and advises people with symptoms to contact a healthcare provider.

The reviewed FDA recall notice and FDA recall listing do not establish a Class II classification for the Salata dressing. The listing explains recall status terminology, including what “terminated” means, but the information available for this notice does not support labeling it Class II. The classification in the supplied title should therefore not be treated as confirmed. See the FDA recalls, market withdrawals, and safety alerts listing.
