Fairshake says it is backing 32 House candidates for the November 2026 midterms: 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats. The group has disclosed plans to spend $1 million on each of six candidates; it has not disclosed the amounts intended for the other 26. That means the announced commitments do not establish a total for the House slate.
Which House candidates is Fairshake backing?
The Associated Press reported the 32-candidate total and party breakdown on October 5, 2026. AP named the six candidates for whom Fairshake announced $1 million commitments. Roll Call reported additional names, but the candidates named in its account do not complete the reported slate of 32.

How much is Fairshake spending on the House slate?
Fairshake announced $1 million each for Democrats Janelle Bynum, Steven Horsford and Derek Tran, and Republicans French Hill, Bryan Steil and Bill Huizenga, according to AP and Roll Call. The reporting reviewed did not disclose an amount for the other 26 candidates. It therefore supports six named commitments, not a full spending total for the 32-candidate slate.

The broader cash figures refer to different scopes. AP reported about $120 million on hand at the end of August for Fairshake and its affiliates combined. Roll Call, citing Federal Election Commission data, reported $108 million on hand at the end of August for Fairshake itself. These are dated snapshots, not October cash totals, and are not conflicting estimates of the same pool.
Why does Fairshake say it is supporting these candidates?
Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter told AP, “We back pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties.” AP reported that all 32 candidates supported legislation that was a priority for the crypto industry. That describes the group’s stated rationale and the reported voting alignment; it does not establish that crypto policy was the sole reason for selecting each candidate.

Fairshake’s official website describes it as a federal independent expenditure-only committee registered with the Federal Election Commission, and says it supports candidates solely through independent activities. This distinguishes its spending from campaign activity authorized by the candidates. FactCheck.org describes Protect Progress and Defend American Jobs as affiliated super PACs.
What happened to the crypto market-structure bill?
The House passed digital-assets market-structure legislation in July 2025. The measure later stalled in the Senate and was blocked in a procedural vote in September 2026 amid disputes that included ethics safeguards, according to AP and Roll Call. Fairshake’s House-candidate announcement came after that setback. The sources establish the timing and Senate impasse, not that the impasse alone determined the candidate slate.

How does the House slate compare with Fairshake’s other spending?
AP reported that the network’s largest announced general-election House commitments are smaller in scale than its separate plan to spend nearly $30 million against Ohio Senate candidate Sherrod Brown. That is a different race and spending effort, not part of a disclosed total for the House slate. AP also reported that Brown faced nearly $40 million in cryptocurrency spending in 2024 and lost to Bernie Moreno.
Fairshake’s spending has crossed party lines in prior races as well. AP reported that its network supported Democratic Senate candidates Ruben Gallego and Elissa Slotkin with about $10 million each in 2024. Those figures concern separate candidates and an earlier election cycle; they should not be added to the 2026 House commitments.

For historical context, the FEC’s PAC Table 12b lists Fairshake disbursements of $161,258,594 from January 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024. That is an official historical period total, not a 2026 spending figure. FactCheck.org’s August 7, 2026 profile reported almost $137 million received by Fairshake in the 2026 cycle and about $127 million on hand in its latest filing in July; it also reported at least $51 million contributed to affiliated super PACs during the 2026 cycle as of that profile. Those earlier snapshots are distinct from the end-of-August figures AP and Roll Call reported.
Vetter told AP that Fairshake had “won 53 of the 57 races we engaged in this cycle.” That is the spokesperson’s characterization, not an independently audited measure of the effect of Fairshake spending or of the 32-candidate House slate.
