The announced UK price was £2.99 a month on the web or £3.99 a month through iOS or Android for a first account; additional accounts in Accounts Center cost extra. The subscription covers the Facebook and Instagram accounts you have added to Accounts Center, according to Meta.
Those are announced prices, not a guarantee of the price shown in every account in October 2026. Check the amount and options presented in your account before subscribing. The available evidence establishes Meta’s terms and regional choices, not a firsthand test of signup, feeds or ad experience, so this is a guide to what the subscription is rather than a personal review.
How much does Facebook without ads cost in the UK?
Meta’s 26 September 2025 UK announcement set a monthly price for adults aged 18 and over. The amount depends on how you subscribe and how many accounts you add to Accounts Center:
| UK account coverage | Web price announced by Meta | iOS or Android price announced by Meta |
|---|---|---|
| First Meta account | £2.99 per month | £3.99 per month |
| Each additional account in Accounts Center | £2 per month | £3 per month |
These are the prices Meta announced in 2025, not independently verified current storefront prices. The total depends on the number of accounts covered, so check your account’s checkout screen for the current amount before committing.
#1 Best Overall
- Build relationships at work and home. Messenger and WhatsApp put you just one tap away from friends and family—even if they don’t have a Meta Portal.
- A more natural connection. Smart Camera adjusts automatically so you can move freely and stay in frame, while Smart Sound ensures you can always be heard.
- Call anyone, anywhere. Use apps like Messenger and WhatsApp to connect with friends and family—even if they don’t have a Meta Portal.
- Bigger screen, bigger sound. A brilliant 14” HD tilting display and a room-filling stereo speaker means you’ll never miss a detail.
- Privacy by design. Easily disable the camera and microphone, or block the lens with the integrated camera cover.
Does one subscription cover Instagram too?
Meta said the subscription applies to Facebook and Instagram accounts the user has added to Accounts Center. That means the relevant distinction is not simply whether you use both apps: check which accounts are linked in Accounts Center and which are included in the subscription terms shown to you. Additional accounts were priced separately in Meta’s UK announcement.
Meta said that a subscriber’s personal data would not be used to show that person ads. This describes the advertising-data treatment Meta announced; it does not establish that every other use of data or every feature of Facebook and Instagram changes under the subscription.

Can you use Facebook free without personalized ads?
In the UK
Meta’s UK announcement described the free service as continuing to show ads, with ad controls available. It named Ad Preferences and “Why am I seeing this ad?” as ways to manage or understand the advertising experience. The announcement did not describe a separate UK free option equivalent to Europe’s less-personalized-ad choice.
In the EU, EEA and Switzerland
Meta’s 12 November 2024 announcement described a free option with less-personalized ads alongside its paid subscription. Meta said that this option used session context and a limited set of information, including age, location, gender and how a person engages with ads. It also said some ads in this option could include short, unskippable breaks. These are Meta’s descriptions of the option, not independently tested findings.

Whether that free option is available to you, and what choices appear in your account, depends on your country and current settings. Do not assume the European choice or prices apply in the UK or elsewhere.

In its 12 November 2024 announcement, Meta set the following monthly European prices for users in the EU, EEA and Switzerland:

The UK Information Commissioner’s Office said Meta’s revised choice lets users consent to personalized ads or pay a monthly subscription for an ad-free service. The ICO welcomed steps to address its concerns, while saying it expected Meta to assess the impact and would continue monitoring the rollout and the broader effects of consent-or-pay models. An ICO spokesperson said: “People must be given meaningful transparency and choice about how their information is used.”

- Designed for calls on the go. A long-lasting battery and integrated handle make it easy to move from room to room.
- Call anyone, anywhere. Use apps like Messenger and WhatsApp to connect with friends and family—even if they don’t have a Meta Portal.
- A more natural connection. Smart Camera adjusts automatically so you can move freely and stay in frame, while Smart Sound ensures you can always be heard.

Separately, the European Commission’s 2025 Digital Markets Act decision found that Meta’s approach to combining personal data for personalized advertising did not comply with Article 5(2) of the DMA. That is an EU regulatory finding about the data-combination approach; it is not a UK ruling or a finding about every feature of the paid subscription.
Quick Recap
Which option makes sense for you?
- Compare your actual checkout price: the announced UK prices differed by purchase channel, and current amounts may vary by storefront or change over time.
- Count the accounts you want covered: Meta’s announced pricing added a monthly charge for each additional account in Accounts Center.
- Decide whether avoiding ads is worth the cost: the paid option is intended to provide an ad-free service, while the free service continues to show ads.
- If you are in Europe, check the free choice: Meta described a less-personalized-ad option, but its availability and terms should be confirmed in your account.
