OfferUp says full access is limited to users in the United States. Its support information describes browsing, listing, and chat, and its current policy says all listings are local pickup only. The company says it does not charge a fee or commission on in-person transactions; that does not mean every feature is free, since promotions and additional listings can cost money. OfferUp says that ending shipping lets it dedicate resources to simplifying local transactions, but that is the company’s stated rationale, not independent evidence of improved safety. Craigslist: classified listings and direct arrangements
Craigslist is an alternative if you want to post or browse local classified ads and arrange the exchange with the other person. Its safety page advises caution and links to guidance on in-person transactions and online scams. eBay: checkout with a pickup code
eBay local pickup keeps key parts of the transaction on the platform: the buyer pays at checkout, the parties arrange pickup through eBay Messages, and the seller scans or enters a unique code from the buyer to confirm the handover. Search for recent listings of similar items and compare how many appear current, how closely they match your item, and whether the pickup locations are practical.
