ASML careers span research and engineering, manufacturing, customer support, sourcing and supply chain, and business functions. The best starting point is to match the work you want to do and your skills to a team and location, then use the live vacancy to verify qualifications, schedule, and application requirements. ASML’s career pages describe work across lithography, metrology, and inspection systems—not just chip design.

What ASML does—and why it needs many kinds of people

ASML develops systems used in semiconductor manufacturing, including lithography, metrology, and inspection equipment. Building, integrating, delivering, and supporting that equipment draws on many disciplines: physics, optics, mechanics, mechatronics, electronics, software, data, production, logistics, and customer service. Finance, human resources, sales, marketing, and other corporate teams also enable the business.

That means there is no single ASML career profile. A role’s actual duties and requirements matter more than assumptions based on the company’s technology or a job title.

What jobs can I get at ASML?

Research and development

ASML distinguishes exploratory Research, which investigates concepts and helps set technology direction, from Development & Engineering, which advances ideas into systems, modules, hardware, software, and applications. The company lists backgrounds including physics, electronics, mechatronics, software, mechanics, and data analytics. Its career information says research roles commonly require a PhD in science or mathematics, but the relevant vacancy is the authority for any particular opening.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing teams fabricate parts, assemble and test equipment, and plan the delivery of complex systems in a high-precision environment. Example work includes parts fabrication, assembly, product engineering, and planning or logistics. ASML describes manufacturing openings across vocational, bachelor’s, and master’s qualification levels; some teams may work shifts.

Customer support

Customer Support helps keep customer machines operating around the clock. The work can suit people who enjoy technical troubleshooting, service, operational problem-solving, and customer-facing responsibilities. Check each vacancy for its specific shift, travel, location, and qualification requirements.

Sourcing and supply chain

These teams connect suppliers, component availability, production planning, and product delivery. Depending on the role, the work may involve procurement, supplier coordination, logistics, or related planning. Read the vacancy to understand which part of the chain it covers.

Business and support functions

ASML also hires in functions such as finance, sales and marketing, and human resources. These roles support internal operations and customers without necessarily involving engineering work.

Which skills and qualifications should I look for?

ASML’s career taxonomy includes chemistry and materials science, computer science and software engineering, data science, electrical engineering, logistics and supply-chain management, mathematics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, optics, and physics, alongside support functions. Treat those categories as a way to discover openings, not as a list of credentials every applicant must hold.

Compare vacancies on the details that affect whether a role fits:

  • Day-to-day work: research, system development, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, supplier coordination, or business support.
  • Qualifications: required degree, vocational training, practical experience, and any specific technical skills.
  • Work setting: site and country, shift pattern, customer contact, and travel expectations.
  • Development and terms: training or development described for that role, plus the employment terms and benefits stated for its location.

Requirements can differ even within one career area. For example, ASML’s Netherlands manufacturing page says its mechanic role calls for vocational education and hands-on technical experience. Do not assume that requirement applies to other manufacturing jobs or countries.

Where are ASML jobs located?

ASML’s careers overview describes opportunities in 60 locations and links to country pages including the Netherlands, Germany, the United States, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and Chinese mainland. The company’s pages describe different site specializations, so location can shape the work as much as the job title.

  • Veldhoven, Netherlands: a major research and development and manufacturing site.
  • Wilton, United States: expertise in mechatronics, alignment, sensors, and optics.
  • San Diego, United States: development and manufacturing of lithography light sources.
  • Taiwan: manufacturing, research and development, training, and e-beam activity.

These are examples from ASML’s career pages, not a complete or permanent list of openings. Check the live vacancy for its worksite and any location-specific conditions.

Are there ASML opportunities for students and graduates?

ASML says it offers opportunities for students and graduates across practically every technical field, and describes on-the-job learning and employee development. Early-career applicants can search those openings alongside entry-level roles, then check what experience, coursework, or skills each listing requests. Development support is not a promise that every role includes the same training or guarantees advancement.

What is the work environment and benefits package like?

ASML describes manufacturing as high-precision work in a Lean environment involving close collaboration across teams. Its life-at-ASML information covers learning, well-being, employee networks, and other parts of employee experience. The company notes that benefits and perks vary by employment type and country, so use the relevant vacancy and local information rather than assuming a universal package.

How do I apply for an ASML job?

  1. Choose the kind of work. Decide whether you are most interested in exploring concepts, developing or integrating systems, making and testing equipment, supporting customer machines, coordinating suppliers or production, or working in a business function.
  2. Search by discipline and location. Use ASML’s career overview to explore teams, locations, and current vacancies. Search the technical areas that match your skills, then narrow by site.
  3. Read the complete vacancy. Verify education or practical experience, technical skills, language, work authorization, location, shifts, and travel expectations. Requirements are specific to the role and jurisdiction.
  4. Follow the listing’s application instructions. ASML’s careers overview also links to interview tips and guidance for job applications. Consult that current guidance rather than assuming one interview sequence applies to every job.

Could an ASML partner or supplier be another route?

ASML’s careers site includes jobs at partner companies, and its supplier ecosystem contributes to developing and delivering equipment. Supplier or partner openings may be relevant for people interested in engineering, manufacturing, validation, sensing, or supply-chain work. They are separate employment opportunities; a partner vacancy does not guarantee a later job at ASML.
