There is no single established analyst consensus for Solana (SOL). Two dated outlooks illustrate why: 21Shares gave 2026 peak-in-year scenarios of $95 to $197, while Standard Chartered’s target, reported by The Block, was $250 at the end of 2026. Those figures describe different time horizons and methods—not competing estimates of the same year-end price.
What are experts predicting for Solana?
The forecasts below are dated estimates, not guarantees or current prices. 21Shares’ January 26, 2026 outlook gives scenario prices that could be reached at peak levels during 2026. The Block reported on February 3, 2026 that Standard Chartered had an end-of-year target for 2026 and longer-term annual targets.
| Forecaster and date | Horizon and convention | Published figures |
|---|---|---|
| 21Shares, January 26, 2026 | Potential peak levels during 2026; scenarios, not closing-price targets | Bear: $95; base: $150; bull: $197 |
| Standard Chartered, as reported by The Block, February 3, 2026 | End-of-year targets | 2026: $250; 2027: $400; 2028: $700; 2029: $1,200; end of 2030: $2,000 |
The Block said Standard Chartered’s 2026 target had been lowered from $310 to $250. Its report attributed the change to the time needed for a new dominant use case to scale. The bank’s thesis was that Solana activity would shift from memecoin trading toward SOL-stablecoin pairs and micropayments. These are reported bank targets from February 2026, not a consensus forecast or a guarantee.
Do not average the two sources into a synthetic “expert target.” One gives scenario peaks; the other gives year-end targets, and they were published at different times using different methods. The available forecasts do not establish a comprehensive analyst consensus.

What drives the 21Shares scenarios?
21Shares’ outlook ties its price cases to how reliably network use creates economic value for SOL, rather than treating transaction activity as sufficient on its own. The firm writes that “SOL’s price will ultimately reflect not raw network performance, but the quality, durability, and value capture of that performance.”
Base case: $150 peak during 2026
The base case assumes moderate network activity and stablecoin growth, marginal improvement in protocol value capture, and staking demand strong enough to absorb inflation. It also assumes reliability improves and institutional use grows gradually, while concerns about decentralization persist.
Bull case: $197 peak during 2026
The bull scenario depends on materially higher fee revenue, faster institutional and corporate settlement, broader adoption of multiple validator clients, and a more dispersed validator set. It also assumes institutional issuance expands beyond pilots into meaningful ongoing activity.

Bear case: $95 peak during 2026
The bear scenario assumes weak protocol value capture, stronger competition, reduced staking demand, and inflation becoming more visible to holders. Stablecoin growth could stall or move elsewhere; governance or centralization concerns could return; and institutional pilots might not scale into durable use.

Why network activity may not translate into SOL value
In its January 2026 analysis, 21Shares reported approximately 2.2 billion weekly transactions and 16.7 million weekly active addresses on Solana. These are the firm’s dated figures, not independently verified real-time counts. High usage can support a bullish case, but it does not by itself show how much economic value accrues to SOL holders.
21Shares illustrated that distinction with approximately $10 million in daily ecosystem fees and up to about $100,000 flowing to the protocol. Those figures are the firm’s estimates and are intended to show the gap between fees earned across applications and protocol-level capture. If applications retain most of the economics, high activity may have a weaker effect on demand for SOL than headline transaction counts suggest.

How issuance and staking affect the outlook
21Shares characterized SOL as inflationary, estimating annualized issuance at around 4% and approximately 70% of circulating supply as staked. These are the firm’s estimates from its January 2026 outlook and can change. In its framework, continued staking demand and growing protocol revenue help determine whether new issuance is absorbed without undermining the token’s price thesis.
The outlook also described a proposed SIMD-0411 change as a possible catalyst, not an adopted policy or guaranteed reduction in issuance. A proposal should not be treated as an implemented change when assessing supply.
What could make institutional adoption matter?
Stablecoin settlement, micropayments, tokenized issuance, and corporate use could make Solana more relevant to financial activity. But announcements and pilot projects do not establish lasting demand for SOL. The key question in these forecasts is whether use becomes recurring and generates durable protocol revenue or other demand for the token.

That distinction helps explain Standard Chartered’s thesis: it expected activity to shift from memecoin trading toward SOL-stablecoin pairs and micropayments, while acknowledging that scaling a new dominant use case takes time. 21Shares’ bull case similarly assumes institutional settlement and issuance move beyond pilots.
Network reliability and decentralization remain execution risks
Reliability improvements and multiple client implementations can strengthen confidence in a network, but they do not eliminate operational or governance concerns. 21Shares discussed gains in reliability and client diversity alongside a decline in active validators and concentration of economic stake. Those observations are time-sensitive estimates from the firm’s January 2026 article, not timeless measures of Solana’s current validator landscape.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How much downside risk should SOL holders consider?
Forecasts can miss even when a network continues to develop. SOL remains exposed to weak token-level value capture, issuance and staking changes, competition, stablecoin activity shifting elsewhere, and concerns about network governance or decentralization. Market-wide liquidity, derivatives positioning, and macro conditions can also move the token independently of progress in network use.

A Grayscale Solana Staking ETF Form 10-K filed with the SEC recorded an SOL Index Price range of $8.29 to $277.39 from November 18, 2021 through December 31, 2025. This is a historical range reported in that filing—not a current range or a forecast. The filing also warns that SOL has experienced extreme volatility and may continue to do so.
The filing notes that losing or compromising a required private key can prevent access to the corresponding digital asset. That custody risk applies to direct token ownership; an exchange-traded product instead has a fund structure, expenses, and risks of its own.
How to use these predictions responsibly
- Check the price convention. A scenario peak during a year is not comparable to a target for the year’s final day.
- Inspect the value-capture assumption. Network activity matters to a token forecast only insofar as it supports durable demand or economics for SOL.
- Look at supply and staking. Issuance, staking participation, and any changes to the issuance schedule can alter the balance between new supply and demand.
- Separate pilots from recurring use. Institutional announcements are not proof that settlement, stablecoin, or tokenized-asset activity will scale.
- Allow for market risk. Even a plausible adoption thesis cannot rule out sharp losses from volatility, liquidity shifts, or broader crypto-market conditions.
These figures are best read as conditional views published on specific dates. 21Shares’ own outlook says forward-looking statements are not guarantees and actual results may differ materially. Forecasts can change as adoption, token economics, and market conditions evolve.
