Those prices are starting points, not a definitive ranking: some are per person, others cover a group, and inclusions and fees vary. Here are ten expensive experience categories—with sourced prices where available and clear limits where they are not—plus a practical way to compare the real cost before booking.
How to read these prices
The prices below are starting prices observed on October 7, 2026, unless a different date is stated. They can change with date, availability, fees, taxes, and package terms. A ticket priced per seat is not directly comparable with a private group package. Confirm the full checkout total, inclusions, and cancellation or weather policy before paying.
Observation decks and premium access
1. Empire State Building All Access Tour
The official ticket page lists the All Access Tour from $500. This is a premium tier above standard 86th-floor admission, listed from $46, and the Premium Experience, listed from $175. The same page lists the Happily Ever Empire proposal package from $1,000. These are starting prices; ticket charges may apply, and the page does not establish that every package is available for every date. Check current package details and checkout pricing at the Empire State Building ticket page.
2. Top of the Rock VIP Pass
Top of the Rock lists timed admission from $42, skip-the-line admission from $82, and a VIP Pass from $185. The VIP description includes a premium guided experience, lounge entry, Beam and SKYLIFT access, a photo pass, and a champagne toast. Compare the date-specific inclusions with the less expensive ticket tiers before deciding whether the extras justify the difference. See Top of the Rock’s official ticket page for current options.

In an announcement dated September 17, 2026, Edge said its VIP All-Access Guided Tour was on sale starting at $179 per person. The described package includes a dedicated guide, priority access, a complimentary beverage, a professional photo, and exclusive keepsakes. Availability and terms may change; confirm them for your chosen date. Details appear in Edge’s September 17, 2026 announcement.
Flights and private packages
4. Doors-off helicopter flight with FlyNYON
FlyNYON advertises a 16-minute doors-off flight from $149 per seat plus fees and a 30-minute option from $330 per seat plus fees. These are per-seat starting prices, so calculate the cost for everyone travelling and include applicable fees. The operator’s site also displays discount language, but a promotion should not be treated as a stable price. Check the live booking page for the selected flight and terms at FlyNYON.
Rank #2
5. Private yacht-and-helicopter experience
New York Welcome advertises a private yacht-and-helicopter tour from $8,500 per group. Unlike a per-seat flight, the headline price applies to a group, so the per-person cost depends on the group size and the package’s actual terms. Confirm the itinerary, passenger limits, inclusions, taxes, availability, and cancellation and weather policies directly with New York Welcome. This is a provider’s advertised offer, not an independently verified market benchmark.

The following five categories are plausible ways to spend heavily in New York, but the cited provider information does not give comparable prices for each. Treat them as categories to investigate—not as verified entries in a price ranking.

6. Broadway VIP packages
New York Welcome advertises Broadway VIP packages from $650 per person. The exact show, seat location, access, inclusions, fees, and date availability are not established by that starting price. Ask for an itemized quote and compare it with buying show tickets separately through the relevant official seller.
7. Private dining
Private dining can mean a reserved room, a custom menu, or a fully arranged meal; the cost depends on the venue, party size, menu, and minimum spend. New York Welcome lists private dining among its high-end categories but does not provide a price in the cited page. Request a written quote that separates food, beverages, service charges, taxes, and any room or event fee.
Rank #4
8. Premium sporting events
New York Welcome also lists sporting events as a high-end category, but the cited page gives no comparable price. Costs depend on the event, date, seat or suite arrangement, and any hospitality inclusions. Get the full per-person and group total, and check whether food, beverages, parking, and access are included.
9. Spa experiences
The provider lists spa experiences but does not state a price in the cited material. Before treating a package as a luxury splurge, check what treatments and facilities are included, how long access lasts, whether gratuities are extra, and whether the quote is per person or for a private group.

10. Custom private itineraries
A custom itinerary can combine transportation, attraction access, dining, or other activities, but the cited provider information does not state a general price for this category. Ask for a line-item quote and identify which elements are fixed, optional, or subject to availability. A bundled headline price is hard to evaluate unless each inclusion and the cancellation terms are clear.

To compare two options, work through these checks:
- Convert to the same basis: multiply per-seat or per-person prices by your party size; divide a group price only after confirming the group limit and what it covers.
- Build the real total: account for fees, taxes, service charges, and optional extras where applicable.
- Value the time and access: compare duration, priority entry, guiding, private access, and included items—not just the headline price.
- Check schedule risk: ask about date flexibility, cancellation terms, and weather-related changes, especially for flights and outdoor plans.
- Compare bundles with separate purchases: request an itemized itinerary so you can see whether a custom package adds meaningful access or convenience.
