MicroScope reported the announcement on 26 February, describing the business as a specialist distributor serving professional audio-visual and communications projects. The closure is not, on the available evidence, a closure of every Exertis business, an announced acquisition by another distributor, or proof of an insolvency procedure.
MicroScope’s report places the decision in a broader period of change after DCC sold much of Exertis to Aurelius in July 2025. That chronology matters, but the published reporting does not establish that Aurelius ordered the AV closure or explain its specific financial or legal cause.
What closed on 1 March 2026?
The announcement concerns Exertis AV as a UK AV-distribution operation. The company said it would close and cease trading from 1 March 2026. The available report does not identify a company number, specify whether the business is being solvently wound down, or state that it entered administration, liquidation or another formal insolvency process.
Exertis AV presented itself as a specialist distributor supporting audio-visual solutions, complex projects, vendors, customers and integrators. Its farewell message was retrospective and appreciative, referring to portfolio development, technical capability and industry relationships.

What the company announced—and what it did not
The company’s statement confirmed the closure and thanked its stakeholders. It did not publish, in the account reproduced by MicroScope:
- a reason for closing;
- a buyer or successor distributor;
- a redundancy figure;
- a plan for customer support or account transfers;
- instructions for open orders, stock clearance, returns or warranties; or
- details of creditors or the business’s legal status.
Those omissions mean that the closure date is established, while the mechanism and practical arrangements remain unconfirmed.
How this fits into the wider Exertis upheaval
Exertis AV’s closure occurred during a larger restructuring period, but it should not be treated as synonymous with the restructuring of the whole Exertis group.

DCC’s July 2025 transaction
In July 2025, DCC sold the bulk of its Exertis business to private-equity firm Aurelius. MicroScope reported a total enterprise value of £100 million, stated on a cash-free, debt-free and normalised-working-capital basis. The transaction excluded the UK enterprise operation and some other European units.
The Exertis IT operations identified in that transaction were:
- Exertis UK&I Business and Consumer;
- Hypertec;
- Exertis Supplies;
- Exertis Ireland;
- Macro EV;
- Exertis Supply Chain Services;
- MTR; and
- Ztorm.
This list provides transaction context; it does not, by itself, establish the precise ownership or operating relationship of Exertis AV when it closed.

Restructuring and management changes
The same reporting referred to restructuring, executive departures and staff being put on notice elsewhere in the Exertis businesses. It did not quantify any Exertis AV-specific job losses or link those developments to a stated decision by Aurelius.
Exertis Supplies was a separate sale
In January 2026, Exertis Supplies was sold to evo and was due to sit under evo’s Vow business. That transaction is separate from Exertis AV’s closure. Nothing in the available report identifies evo as the buyer of Exertis AV.

Was Aurelius responsible?
The defensible conclusion is chronological, not causal: Exertis AV closed during the period after Aurelius acquired much of Exertis. MicroScope said Aurelius was contacted and declined to comment on businesses in its portfolio. No public statement in the cited report says that Aurelius directed the closure, gives a reason for it, or assigns responsibility.

What the closure could mean for the AV channel
The consequences below are channel implications rather than confirmed outcomes. Vendors, integrators and resellers should verify them with their own account contacts and contractual documents.
Vendors
- Manufacturers may need to appoint replacement UK distribution arrangements or divide product lines among existing partners.
- Authorisations, rebate agreements, demo equipment and loan stock may require written clarification.
- Former Exertis AV account managers or technical specialists could move to competitors, but no such transfers are confirmed.
Integrators and resellers
- Open quotations, purchase orders and project deliveries need confirmation of who will fulfil them after 1 March.
- Credit limits, prepaid orders, unpaid invoices and returns should be reconciled against the contracting legal entity.
- Warranty and repair routes may remain with the manufacturer rather than the distributor, but that depends on each brand’s terms.
Competition and capability
A specialist distributor’s exit could leave competitors competing for displaced brands, customers and staff. It may also reduce access to distribution-led design support for complex projects or increase concentration among the remaining UK AV distributors. Whether that produces higher costs, slower fulfilment or a different service mix cannot be established from the closure announcement alone.

- the legal entity and formal closure mechanism;
- the number of employees affected;
- the treatment of stock, open orders and customer data;
- any successor operation or customer-transfer programme;
- vendor-by-vendor replacement arrangements; and
- the financial, strategic or market rationale for the decision.
Those gaps are significant for anyone with an outstanding project, credit balance, warranty claim or vendor agreement. They should not be filled with assumptions about insolvency or a group-wide shutdown.
