Rob Walton is the richest NFL owner in the latest comprehensive ranking available here: Athlon Sports estimates his net worth at $130.6 billion. David Tepper ranks second at $28.5 billion. The figures are estimates—not audited NFL disclosures—and the ranking mixes individual owners with families and ownership groups.
Every NFL owner ranked by estimated net worth
The table reproduces Athlon Sports’ ranking snapshot, dated September 9, 2026, the start of the 2026 NFL season. Amounts are in U.S. dollars. Unless a different year is shown, the estimate is presented as part of that snapshot; Athlon marks the Bengals and Colts figures as 2025 estimates and the Chargers figure as a 2018 estimate. “Individual” or “family/group” describes the unit named in the ranking, not a claim that every member has an equal share.

How to read the ranking
These are estimates, not an official NFL wealth list
Athlon says its figures draw on the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List and PFSN unless otherwise indicated. There is no uniform, primary-source, audited set of net-worth figures for all NFL owners in this ranking. Treat the amounts as estimates attributed to Athlon, not verified personal balance sheets or an official league ranking. The older dates shown for several entries also mean the list is not a fully matched-date comparison.
Some entries are family or combined fortunes
The Hunt family’s $25.6 billion, for example, is a collective estimate, while the Giants’ $2.6 billion is a combined Mara–Tisch figure. Those totals cannot be read as the personal net worth of one owner or as proof that wealth is divided equally. The ranking’s group estimates are useful for a broad comparison, but they are not directly equivalent to individual estimates.
#1 Best Overall
Owner wealth is not franchise value
A team’s enterprise value and an owner’s net worth measure different things. Forbes reported a $10.5 billion enterprise value for the 49ers in 2026; that is a valuation of the franchise, not Denise DeBartolo York and Jed York’s personal net worth. Enterprise value accounts for equity plus net debt, and the York family is identified separately as the team’s owner. A team valuation should not be substituted for an owner’s wealth.
Who owns the Seahawks now?
The Seahawks sale is complete, not pending. NFL.com reported that the Khosla family’s purchase closed on September 3, 2026, for $9.612 billion, and reported Neeru Khosla as the team’s controlling owner and president of the Seahawks Charitable Foundation. Athlon’s ranking nevertheless names Vinod and Neeru Khosla together and assigns them a combined estimate of $11.4 billion; that is the figure and ownership unit the table preserves.
Rank #2
What the Giants ranking does—and does not—include
The $2.6 billion entry is Athlon’s combined estimate for John Mara and Steve Tisch, not a figure for every person with a stake in the Giants. The Associated Press reported that Julia Koch’s family agreed to buy a 10% noncontrolling stake, while the Mara and Tisch families remained majority owners. Koch’s reported personal wealth should not be confused with the wealth attributed to the Giants’ majority-owner families.
Why the Packers are not ranked
Green Bay is omitted because the Packers are publicly owned by shareholders rather than controlled by a conventional private owner. The list ranks owners and ownership groups, so there is no comparable single private owner’s net worth to place in it.

Jacksonville owner background
The NFL’s 2025 Jaguars guide says Shad Khan’s purchase of the franchise was approved unanimously, 32–0, on December 14, 2011, and closed January 4, 2012. It describes his path from engineering work to ownership of Flex-N-Gate. This background does not establish a current net-worth figure; the ranking’s estimate for Khan is the separate $16.5 billion figure above.
