Etihad Airways announced nonstop service between Abu Dhabi and Calgary starting 3 November 2026. The airline describes it as its first nonstop service to Western Canada and the first-ever nonstop flight between the UAE and Calgary. The launch date is still in the future as of 8 October 2026, so the route should be treated as planned rather than already operating. Is Chicago now twice daily?
Etihad announced that its nonstop service between Chicago O’Hare and Abu Dhabi would increase to twice daily from 15 June 2026. Published sources differ on the aircraft for the enhanced Chicago schedule: Etihad Hub named an Airbus A350, while a later Aletihad News Center report said the enhanced Chicago and Charlotte schedules would use Boeing 787-9s. Because of that discrepancy, verify the aircraft shown for the specific flight rather than relying on either announcement.
Charlotte’s daily service was announced as temporary
Charlotte service launched on 20 March 2026 at four flights per week, according to Aletihad News Center. The report said it was due to rise to daily service from 15 June through 8 September 2026. That stated daily period has ended; the announcement does not establish that Charlotte continues to operate daily afterward. Check a current timetable for present-day service and frequency.

Does Etihad serve eight North American destinations in 2026?
A 31 January 2026 article by Bolt Flight lists Atlanta, Boston, Calgary, Charlotte, Chicago O’Hare, New York JFK, Toronto and Washington Dulles as Etihad’s eight North American destinations for 2026, and describes the scale as historic. Bolt Flight’s list is secondary reporting. The Etihad materials cited here confirm Calgary and identify Toronto, New York and Chicago as existing services, with Charlotte due to start in March; they do not independently verify the complete eight-airport list or establish a historical record.
There is also a wording distinction: a route is an airport pair, while the eight-item list is a count of destinations. The available primary announcements do not substantiate the headline’s combined claim of eight routes and a record-breaking footprint. Treat the list as reported rather than as an officially confirmed count.
