Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and BlockDAG: Reassessing the Q4 2024 “30,000x” Bet

The Q4 2024 headline is now historical, and the available sources do not verify its market claims or establish a 30,000x forecast. Here is what they do show about Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and BlockDAG.

No evidence here establishes Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash or BlockDAG as the best investment—or supports a 30,000x return forecast. The headline was published on September 13, 2024, and its Q4 2024 outlook is now historical. The available sources describe network designs and project roadmaps, but do not establish the price moves implied by “climbs” and “falters” or provide a defensible ranking by expected return.

What the Q4 2024 headline can—and cannot—tell you

The TechBullion article’s headline framed Ethereum as climbing, Bitcoin Cash as faltering and BlockDAG as having “30,000x potential.” Those are claims in a September 13, 2024 headline, not verified findings in the sources available here. No dated price series was retrieved to check the relative performance of ETH, BCH and BDAG during Q4 2024, and the headline alone does not substantiate a return forecast.

A 30,000x gain would turn $1 into $30,000 before fees and taxes. That arithmetic does not make the outcome plausible: a meaningful forecast would need entry and exit prices, a time horizon, circulating-supply and dilution assumptions, and market-cap analysis. The sources below do not establish those inputs.

How the three projects differ

Asset Stated design or use What the cited sources establish What they do not establish
Ethereum (ETH) Smart-contract network using proof of stake. Ethereum.org’s roadmap describes The Merge as the transition to proof of stake and lists completed upgrades through Fusaka, with later roadmap targets including Glamsterdam. These protocol and roadmap details do not establish a future ETH return or a relative investment ranking.
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) Payments-oriented positioning. The official Bitcoin Cash site describes its aim as “Better money for the world” and links to wallets, exchanges, explorers and full-node resources. The retrieved page does not verify that BCH “falters” as a current or historical market claim, and supplies no comparable performance figure.
BlockDAG (BDAG) The December 2024 whitepaper describes a proof-of-work directed acyclic graph design with concurrent block production and EVM support. The whitepaper states a maximum supply of 150 billion BDAG, including a 50 billion presale allocation. BlockDAG’s Developer Hub says mainnet block production activated on February 10, 2026. Those are project-published statements, not independent confirmation of performance, decentralization, token distribution or investment value.

How to read the performance and roadmap figures

Ethereum: a future scaling target is not current throughput

Ethereum.org’s danksharding page, last updated June 24, 2026, describes blobs as a way for rollups to post data more cheaply. It presents full danksharding as a future stage and says it would scale Ethereum to more than 100,000 transactions per second. Treat that figure as a future target, not a measurement of today’s network capacity. Ethereum.org also notes that development is community-driven and subject to change; roadmap dates and features are not guarantees.

BlockDAG: attribute launch claims to the project

BlockDAG’s Developer Hub says parallel block processing enables about 2,000 transactions per second at launch. This is the project’s stated target; no independent benchmark is established by the cited sources. The reported mainnet activation date and whitepaper supply figures likewise describe BlockDAG’s own materials, not independently verified adoption or market demand.

What would make a comparison useful to an investor?

Technology descriptions can help identify what a network is designed to do, but they do not show what a token is worth or what it may return. For a time-bounded investment comparison, look for dated market data and comparable measures, then separate those from protocol claims.

  • Check the period. Use price and performance data that covers the same dates for all three assets; the 2024 headline is not evidence of what happened afterward.
  • Check supply and dilution. A maximum supply or presale allocation is only one input. It does not by itself show circulating supply, future issuance, ownership concentration or likely sell pressure.
  • Check claimed capacity against independent measurements. A roadmap target or project-reported TPS figure is not a substitute for a reproducible benchmark under stated conditions.
  • Check the investment case separately from the use case. A network can have a clear design purpose without its token being undervalued, liquid or likely to appreciate.

Without those inputs, the evidence supports describing the projects and qualifying their claims—not naming a winner or recommending a personal bet.
