The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) described it as the largest esports tournament prize pool at the time. It was a combined pool for club competition, game championships, MVP awards and qualifiers—not a single winner’s purse.
How the 2024 prize pool was allocated
EWCF’s April 16, 2024 announcement divided the headline total among four categories. The published amounts are thresholds and allocations, not an independently audited final payout ledger.
| Category | 2024 announced amount | What it covered |
|---|---|---|
| Club Championship | $20 million | Allocation for the top 16 clubs, based on their overall performance across the competition. |
| Game Championships | More than $33 million combined | Prize pools across 20 game championships. |
| MVP Awards | $50,000 per competition | An award for a standout participant in each competition. |
| Qualifiers | More than $7 million | Qualifying events held before the Game Championships. |
The amounts should not be added together as if they were precise, reconciled line items: several were announced as “more than” figures, and the MVP amount was specified per competition.
Why the event had 20 competitions but 19 listed games
In its announcement, EWCF listed 19 participating game titles while describing 20 competitions, and said additional games would be announced. The title count and competition count therefore referred to different things; the announcement did not present a one-game, one-competition tally.

- Comfort is King: Comfort’s in the Cloud III’s DNA. Built for gamers who can’t have an uncomfortable headset ruin the flow of their full-combo, disrupt their speedrun, or knocking them out of the zone.
- Audio Tuned for Your Entertainment: Angled 53mm drivers have been tuned by HyperX audio engineers to provide the optimal listening experience that accents the dynamic sounds of gaming.
- Upgraded Microphone for Clarity and Accuracy: Captures high-quality audio for clear voice chat and calls. The mic is noise-cancelling and features a built-in mesh filter to omit disruptive sounds and LED mic mute indicator lets you know when you’re muted.
- Durability, for the Toughest of Battles: The headset is flexible and features an aluminum frame so it’s resilient against travel, accidents, mishaps, and your ‘level-headed’ reactions to losses and defeat screens.
How the Club Championship worked
The Club Championship linked results across games. Clubs chose the games in which to compete, and their performances across the Game Championships contributed to their overall standing. The announced $20 million allocation was for the top 16 clubs, rather than a prize assigned only to the winner of one game.
How the 2024 figure compares with the 2025 announcement
The headline is specifically about the inaugural 2024 event. On April 10, 2025, EWCF announced a pool of more than $70 million for the 2025 edition, describing it as a $10 million increase over the inaugural event.

- TRIFORCE TITANIUM 50 MM DRIVERS — Our cutting-edge proprietary design divides the driver into 3 parts for the individual tuning of highs, mids, and lows—producing brighter, clearer audio with richer highs and more powerful lows
- HYPERCLEAR CARDIOID MIC — An improved pickup pattern ensures more voice and less noise as it tapers off towards the mic’s back and sides, with the sweet spot easily placed at the mouth because of the mic’s bendable design
- ADVANCED PASSIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Sturdy closed earcups fully cover the ears to prevent noise from leaking into the headset, with its cushions providing a closer seal for more sound isolation
- LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN WITH MEMORY FOAM EAR CUSHIONS — At just 240 g, the headset features thicker headband padding and memory foam ear cushions with leatherette to keep gaming in peak form during grueling tournaments and training sessions
- VOLUME WHEEL — Its on-headset control makes it convenient to adjust audio levels without having to fiddle with any system or program settings
| Announcement category | 2024 inaugural event | 2025 edition |
|---|---|---|
| Total announced pool | More than $60 million | More than $70 million |
| Club Championship | $20 million | $27 million |
| Game Championships | More than $33 million combined | More than $38 million combined |
| MVP awards | $50,000 per competition | $450,000 total pool |
| Qualifiers | More than $7 million | More than $5 million for Road to EWC qualifiers |
These are figures announced by EWCF for each edition; they do not establish the final amounts paid to participants. The 2024 MVP figure is per competition, while the 2025 figure is a total pool, so those two entries are not directly equivalent measures.

The more-than-$60-million figure describes the organizer’s announced total for the 2024 event, not the amount received by an individual player, team or champion. It also should not be treated as a current figure for later editions. EWCF is the primary source for its announcement; the published breakdown is not an independent audit of payouts.

For event audience figures, the sources report different measures. EWCF’s 2025 announcement said the 2024 event had more than 500 million online viewers and 2.6 million visitors to Boulevard City. Separately, the Saudi Press Agency reported more than 500 million viewers and more than 250 million hours watched over the eight-week event. These publisher-reported figures use different measures and should not be combined or assumed comparable without shared methodology.
