The vote authorized the combination; the merger was projected to take effect July 1, 2022, and NAEDA later confirmed it was completed on that date.
Which associations voted to merge?
The March 2022 merger brought together the Equipment Dealers Association (EDA), Midwest-SouthEastern Equipment Dealers Association (MSEDA), United Equipment Dealers Association (UEDA), and Western Equipment Dealers Association (WEDA). Their joint membership approved merger resolutions, completing the member-approval step described at the time. Successful Farming reported the vote on March 21, 2022.
The combination was limited to those four organizations. The contemporary report said other regional associations outside the merger would remain independent; it was not a consolidation of every regional dealer association.
When did the NAEDA merger take effect?
At the time of the vote, July 1, 2022 was the projected effective date—not yet a confirmed completion. NAEDA’s 2024–25 media kit later said the merger was completed July 1, 2022. The association’s bylaws also refer to a merger agreement dated July 1, 2022 among NAEDA USA, WEDA Trade Association, UEDA, and MSEDA. NAEDA’s media kit and bylaws provide the later confirmation and formal reference.

Why did the associations combine?
The stated rationale was to consolidate resources as dealer groups expanded and to build an association with greater capacity to serve members. In the March 2022 account, EDA president and CEO Kim Rominger said: “With the expansion and consolidation of dealers, to keep the same numbers and to make everything financially viable, we need to consolidate some of the associations as well,”
The organizations described the intended benefits as stronger dealer representation in government affairs and manufacturer relations, alongside educational, legal, and insurance programs. These were goals and service areas cited around the merger; the available accounts do not establish that the combination produced measurable financial or service improvements.
Tom Rosztoczy, chair of the long-range planning group, said: “We appreciate the overwhelming level of support that we have been given by our members,” He also said: “Now that our members have ratified the merger resolutions, we will start with our transition plan and consolidating our resources — taking the best of all four organizations to enhance our value proposition to dealers.” These statements were attributed to the speakers in the contemporary report.
Which dealers and sectors did NAEDA represent?
The 2022 report described the planned association as reaching around 3,000 dealerships in 24 U.S. states and nine Canadian provinces. It named agricultural, construction, industrial, forestry, outdoor power, and lawn, garden, and turf equipment dealers. It also described representation in government affairs in Washington, D.C., Ottawa, and state or provincial arenas, as well as work on manufacturer relations.

NAEDA’s 2024–25 media kit later reported more than 4,000 farm, construction, and outdoor power equipment dealers. That is a later association-reported figure with different wording and publication date; it should not be read as a directly comparable count or proof of growth from the 2022 estimate.

NAEDA’s current merger FAQ describes a separate proposed combination with Associated Equipment Dealers (AED), not part of the 2022 merger. The FAQ gives January 31, 2027 as the target date for AED operations to begin and says the combined organization would use the Associated Equipment Dealers name. This remains a plan with a future target date, rather than a completed event. NAEDA’s merger FAQs outline the proposed transition.
