Reports by BBC Sport in 2022 and 2023 named IMG executive Max Eisenbud as Emma Raducanu’s agent and linked him to Maria Sharapova’s career. Forbes described Sharapova as the highest-paid female athlete for 11 consecutive years in its 2015 ranking—but that was an annual earnings distinction, not a measure of accumulated wealth.
Who is Emma Raducanu’s agent?
BBC Sport identified Max Eisenbud, an IMG tennis executive, as Raducanu’s agent in June 2022. In a July 2023 report, the BBC again described him in that role. The reports also connect Eisenbud with Sharapova and Li Na. What does “world’s richest sportswoman” mean?
In this story, “richest” is best understood as highest-paid in a given year—not richest by net worth. Forbes said Sharapova had topped its female-athlete earnings ranking for 11 consecutive years as of its 2015 list. Forbes estimated her 2015 earnings at $29.7 million: $23 million from endorsements and $6.7 million from salary and winnings. These are Forbes’s historical estimates for that ranking, not a statement of her current income or total wealth. Forbes, 31 August 2015.
For perspective, a 2006 Forbes profile estimated Sharapova’s earnings at $19 million for June 2005 through June 2006, also describing her then as the world’s highest-paid female athlete. That figure covers a different period and should not be added to the 2015 estimate as if the two figures measured the same year or a cumulative fortune. Forbes, 2006.

How Sharapova’s commercial opportunity took shape
Sharapova’s Wimbledon victory at age 17 in 2004 brought a surge of corporate interest, according to BBC Sport. Eisenbud recalled discussing with her father, Yuri, how to pursue commercial opportunities while protecting her focus on tournaments. That account describes a balancing act: endorsement work can generate income, but it competes for time and attention with training and competition. The sporting record provides important context, not proof of a single person’s influence: the WTA lists five Grand Slam singles titles, 36 WTA singles titles and 18 weeks at world No. 1 for Sharapova. WTA player profile.

How Raducanu’s reported commercial plan differed
In 2022, BBC Sport reported that IMG had capped Raducanu’s sponsor days at a maximum of 18 per year, with tennis prioritized over additional shoots. Eisenbud said, “We could have done 50 days of shoots,” and added, “But I think that if she had zero shoot dates, everything would be the same.” Those are his comments about the approach at that time, not evidence of Raducanu’s current schedule or independently measured proof of the effect of sponsor work on her results. An agent’s role should not be conflated with control over a player’s coaching. In its July 2023 coverage of Raducanu’s coaching turnover, BBC Sport attributed coaching decisions to Raducanu and her father. It reported that she had worked with five coaches over two years. Eisenbud commented, “I’m not saying it is right or wrong, but that is the way they have done it, and I think it is fine to do things differently.” His remark is a view on their approach, not evidence that he selected or managed her coaches.
