Embraer reported a record US$34.5 billion company-wide firm order backlog in the second quarter of 2026, its seventh consecutive quarterly record. Commercial Aviation accounted for US$15.1 billion of that total. The previously reported US$31.6 billion figure was the year-end 2025 record—not the latest total—and neither figure means the entire backlog is for E-Jets.
What Embraer’s backlog figures mean
A firm order backlog is the value or number of aircraft and other products covered by firm customer orders that have not yet been fulfilled, as reported by the company. It is not revenue already earned, a count of aircraft delivered in the quarter, or a guarantee that every order will convert into a delivery on its original schedule.
Embraer reports a company-wide dollar value across four segments: Commercial Aviation, Executive Aviation, Defense & Security, and Services & Support. In 2Q26, the company-wide total was US$34.5 billion; Commercial Aviation contributed US$15.1 billion. The segment figure is the relevant dollar amount for assessing commercial-aircraft orders, while the total reflects the broader business. Embraer’s 2Q26 results filed with the SEC identify the latest figures.
How the backlog changed from 4Q25 to 2Q26
| Reporting period | Company-wide firm order backlog | Commercial Aviation backlog | Reported context |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4Q25 | US$31.6 billion | US$14.5 billion | Record when announced on January 27, 2026 |
| 1Q26 | US$32.1 billion | US$15.0 billion | Sixth consecutive company-wide record; total up 22% year over year |
| 2Q26 | US$34.5 billion | US$15.1 billion | Seventh consecutive company-wide record |
These are company-reported dollar values for different reporting periods, not interchangeable snapshots. The 1Q26 release, published April 27, 2026, reported the 22% year-over-year increase; the 2Q26 release, published July 24, 2026, reported the next record. Embraer’s 1Q26 results filed with the SEC and 2Q26 results provide the period details.

How many E-Jets are in the model-level backlog?
Embraer’s model-level orders-and-deliveries table showed 459 E-Jets in firm order backlog when accessed on October 8, 2026. That live table is updated quarterly and separates legacy E-Jets from E2 models.
| Model | Firm order backlog shown by Embraer |
|---|---|
| E175 | 190 |
| E190-E2 | 34 |
| E195-E2 | 235 |
| Total across the listed E-Jet variants | 459 |
The same table lists 2,402 firm orders and 1,943 deliveries across the E170, E175, E190, E195, E190-E2, and E195-E2 families. Those are aircraft counts, distinct from the dollar-valued company and segment backlogs above. Because Embraer updates the table quarterly, its figures should be read as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent count. Embraer’s Commercial Aviation orders and deliveries page contains the model breakdown.

Backlog is not the same as aircraft delivered
Deliveries measure aircraft handed over during a specified period; backlog measures unfulfilled firm orders. A high backlog can indicate a substantial order book, but it does not tell a reader how many aircraft were delivered in that quarter.
- 2Q26: Embraer delivered 65 aircraft company-wide, including 20 commercial jets—10 E2 and 10 E1—and 45 executive jets.
- 1Q26: It delivered 44 aircraft company-wide, including 10 commercial jets—four E2 and six E1.
For calendar-year context, Embraer’s 2025 annual report says Commercial Aviation delivered 78 aircraft: 34 E175s, six E190-E2s, and 38 E195-E2s. These quarter-specific and annual delivery counts describe completed handovers, not the backlog. The 2Q26 results, the 1Q26 results, and Embraer’s 2025 annual report filed with the SEC report the respective figures.

Does the record prove that airlines are flocking to E-Jets?
The figures establish that Embraer’s company-wide firm order backlog rose through 2Q26, that Commercial Aviation represented US$15.1 billion of the latest total, and that 459 aircraft appeared in the model-level E-Jet backlog table accessed October 8, 2026. They do not, on their own, establish that airlines broadly are “flocking” to E-Jets or explain why particular airlines place orders.
Backlog figures alone cannot rank possible demand drivers such as fuel efficiency, route economics, replacement cycles, or aircraft availability. Establishing those explanations would require evidence beyond the backlog and delivery figures, such as specific airline order announcements and independent analysis. The defensible conclusion is narrower: Embraer reported consecutive company-wide backlog records, with a significant commercial segment and continued E-Jet orders.
