But the campaign’s strong funding did not mean prompt delivery: the creator said in an October 1, 2026 update that printing had stopped after a price dispute with the printer, with no replacement shipping date announced.

It cleared the initial goal during its first day. GamesBeat reported on launch day that it passed the goal within hours, while Time Extension reported on October 17, 2024, that it had done so within 24 hours. GamesBeat’s launch coverage and Time Extension’s report describe the early milestone; the campaign page gives the final result.
Those figures show the campaign’s performance, not the size of the broader market for retro-gaming books. No market-wide demand statistic is established by these sources.

What backers were funding
A physical history of Electronic Gaming Monthly
The central project is a large-format book about the magazine and its history. The creator’s 2024 FAQ specified a 9 × 12-inch physical book and described the Kickstarter copy as an exclusive first edition. The FAQ said later retailer sales were possible, but it did not establish that copies are currently available. Read the creator’s FAQ.
GamesBeat described the book as drawing on EGM’s 25-year history, with interviews, historical background, features, and material about the magazine itself. Co-author Mollie L. Patterson told GamesBeat: “As someone who read Electronic Gaming Monthly at its beginning and worked for it at its end, I feel honored to be able to help preserve its 25 years of history and heritage in this new book project.” GamesBeat’s October 15, 2024 report covered the project at launch.
A planned digital archive
The project also included a planned digital archive of EGM issues. At launch, the creators described its intended purpose as making back issues readable and searchable. That description is a plan reported in 2024, not confirmation that a complete archive is currently available or that access is included with any present-day purchase.
The EGM #265 reward
A June 11, 2026 creator update discussed a separately unlocked print issue, EGM #265, including its redesign and contents. The update said backers who purchased a physical Compendium copy would receive the issue with the book. This is a description of a campaign reward, not evidence of a separately available current product. The creator’s project updates contain the update.

Why the book is delayed
In an October 1, 2026 update, the creator said it had paid an advance to a printer and received a schedule, but the printer later raised the agreed price. Printing stopped while the team looked into alternatives. The creator accepted responsibility for the delay, but did not provide a revised production or shipping date. The creator’s update page is the source for this status.
The same update said the team was preparing extra books and rewards to address possible shipment defects. That describes a stated plan; it does not establish that fulfillment has begun. The creator said it hoped to provide another update about EGM #265 and future plans in the following week or two, but that intention is not a delivery commitment.

The available sources do not verify a current retail listing, live inventory, or a confirmed sales channel. The creator’s FAQ said in 2024 that the Kickstarter edition was intended to be exclusive and that later retailer copies were possible. Because printing had stopped as of the October 1, 2026 update, do not assume the book is currently shipping or available from a retailer. Check the creator’s latest update before relying on any availability claim.
The campaign’s funded status is not the same as a completed purchase or delivered order. Anyone considering a resale listing should verify the seller, edition, condition, price, and whether any promised digital access or campaign extras actually transfer; the sources here do not establish current archive access or retail terms.
