How much was EA sold for?
EA’s September 29, 2025 announcement described the agreed transaction as having an approximate $55 billion enterprise value. In its August 4, 2026 closing filing, EA reported approximately $55 billion in total consideration. Those are the descriptions used by the respective sources; neither supports a $300 billion sale price.
Enterprise value and total merger consideration are related but distinct financial measures, so the figures should be quoted with their source labels rather than treated as interchangeable accounting definitions. The practical answer to “How much was EA sold for?” is approximately $55 billion, not $300 billion. EA’s 2025 agreement announcement and its 2026 SEC closing filing give the transaction figures.
Who bought Electronic Arts?
The acquiring consortium consisted of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. EA announced the agreement in 2025, and the transaction closed in 2026. PIF also rolled over its existing 9.9% stake as part of the announced financing arrangement; that stake is not an additional sale price.

Did the acquisition close, and what happened to EA shares?
Yes. EA announced completion on August 4, 2026, and its SEC Form 8-K records that date as the closing date. The filing says EA survived the merger as a wholly owned subsidiary of Parent.
EA said stockholders would receive $210 in cash per share for shares held as of the closing. This is the per-share amount, not the aggregate transaction value. EA and the consortium described plans to invest in innovation and grow the business. Those statements are intentions, not evidence that the acquisition has already changed a particular game, price, release schedule, or job. The transaction documents establish the ownership change and financial terms; they do not establish its later effects on development, staffing, or customer experience.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson framed the closing as recognition of the company’s employees and creative work. That is the company’s perspective, not independent proof that every stakeholder benefited. Any claim about concrete post-acquisition changes needs separate, later evidence.
