Egypt’s reported commodity prices moved in both directions on October 6, 2026: four of six listed fertilizer and construction-material categories fell, while ammonium sulfate and grey cement rose. Arab Finance reported the figures as coming from Egypt’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC); they are dated per-ton prices, not a live price list.
What the October 6 price report says
Arab Finance’s October 6, 2026 report attributed the following prices and daily changes to IDSC. All prices are in Egyptian pounds (EGP) per ton.

Ammonium sulfate had the largest increase among these six entries; investment-grade steel had the largest decline. The headline’s word “drop” therefore describes the overall set imperfectly: it does not mean every listed material became cheaper.
Arab Finance’s October 6 report was updated at 10:48 a.m. and relayed the figures as IDSC data. The figures’ price basis—such as wholesale, retail, or producer pricing—and their geographic coverage and collection method are not specified in the report.

Why another October 6 report shows different prices
A separate October 6 article from Sada El Balad (El Balad), published at 12:01 p.m., gave different figures for the same construction materials. It listed Ezz Steel at EGP 39,949 per ton, investment-grade steel at EGP 37,767 per ton, and grey cement at EGP 4,080 per ton. El Balad describes some figures as averages.

The articles do not provide enough information about reference time, geography, price basis, or methodology to explain these differences. How to use these figures
- Read them as reported October 6, 2026 per-ton figures, not as current quotations for a later date.
- Use the outlet attribution when comparing the steel and cement numbers; the reports do not establish that they measure the same type of transaction or market area.
- Do not infer a delivered purchase cost, local retail price, or price trend beyond the stated daily percentage changes; those details are not given in the reports.
