On October 8, 2026, VerifiedX LLC and EDX Markets announced a strategic partnership under which Verified Bitcoin (vBTC) would be offered on EDX for institutional spot trading, and EDX would join the VerifiedX network as a validator. Both are announced plans. The announcement gives no launch date, trading pair, fee schedule, or detailed operating terms, and it is aimed at institutional investment professionals rather than individual buyers.
What the October 8, 2026 announcement covers
The partnership was published as a press release through GlobeNewswire under the title “EDX Markets and VerifiedX Partner to Bring Verified Bitcoin (vBTC) to Institutional Markets.” It describes two roles:
- vBTC on EDX: the partners say vBTC will be brought to EDX Markets for institutional spot trading.
- EDX as a validator: EDX will join the VerifiedX network as a validator, linking a trading venue and clearinghouse with the network infrastructure that supports vBTC.
VerifiedX Foundation’s Head of Strategy, Jay Pollak, framed the deal this way in the release: “Bitcoin does not need another financial abstraction. It needs infrastructure that allows the asset itself to do more.” That is the company’s view of its own product, not an independent assessment.
The release also says more details will follow in the coming weeks and warns that future integrations and functionality may change. As of the publication date, no follow-up details were part of the announcement.
#1 Best Overall
- BITCOIN EXCLUSIVE, PHONE VERIFICATION: Bitkey is designed from the ground up exclusively for bitcoin — a dedicated hardware wallet for secure bitcoin storage. Approve transactions with a tap using your phone and NFC. No device screen is required.
- SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
- NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
- 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
- BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.
What vBTC is, according to VerifiedX
VerifiedX describes vBTC as a tokenized form of Bitcoin. The company’s stated design features are:
- 1:1 BTC backing: the company says each vBTC is backed 1:1 by BTC.
- Redemption path: the company says vBTC holders have an evergreen redemption path to native Bitcoin.
- Programmability and self-custody: the company describes the token as programmable and usable in self-custodial form.
- Taproot addresses: the company says each token has Taproot addresses embedded.
These are design assertions from the issuer. The announcement does not include an independent reserve attestation or audit, and it does not include technical documentation showing how redemption works in practice. Until such material is published, the 1:1 backing and redemption claims should be read as VerifiedX’s statements.

Who the offering is for

The communication is directed solely at investment professionals with investment experience. The release does not list every eligible jurisdiction, so readers outside the United States should not assume access.
