What did eBay acquire from Collectors?
eBay acquired Goldin, a US-based auction house focused on high-value trading cards and collectibles. Collectors, Goldin’s former owner, was also party to a commercial agreement with eBay covering the trading card hobby. In a separate transaction, PSA—Collectors’ grading business—acquired the eBay Vault from eBay. The deal therefore involved assets moving in both directions, rather than eBay buying Collectors as a whole.

Did eBay buy Goldin?
Yes. eBay said Goldin would broaden the inventory available across its offerings and give Goldin sellers access to a wider audience of buyers. Those were the company’s stated reasons for the acquisition, not independently measured results. What happened to the eBay Vault?
PSA acquired the eBay Vault from eBay. In the May 16 closing announcement, the companies described plans for a combined vault product offering: customers would have access through buying or selling on eBay, grading with PSA, or directly submitting items for insured storage. How was PSA grading supposed to connect to selling cards on eBay?
The April agreement described a service that would let customers list and sell a trading card on eBay when it was graded by PSA. The announcement also said existing grading and selling options would remain available. These were elements of the announced plan; the 2024 materials do not establish whether the feature is currently offered or what its present terms are. Check current official service information before relying on a particular listing, grading or storage path.
When did the eBay and Collectors deal close?
The companies announced signed agreements on April 10, 2024, subject to customary closing conditions, and said they expected to close simultaneously during the second quarter. What did the companies say the deal would achieve?
eBay CEO Jamie Iannone said the company was “relentlessly focused on providing the best inventory and the highest level of trust for our global community.” Collectors CEO Nat Turner said the companies would “drastically improve the collector experience by creating a seamless, end-to-end journey.” Both statements, made in the April 10 announcement, describe company goals and anticipated benefits; they are not evidence that those outcomes were achieved.
