It is not open now. The process subsequently advanced to unit-specific document-verification shortlists; candidates should use the official Railway Recruitment Cell, Eastern Railway (RRC-ER) notice board for later notices and current-cycle information.
When did the Eastern Railway Apprentice application window close?
RRC-ER accepted online applications from 24 September 2024 at 11:00 until 23 October 2024 at 17:00. The recruitment notice described 3,115 Act Apprentice training slots for 2024–25. Those figures refer to training slots, not a guaranteed number of railway jobs or eventual engagements. The notification also said slot numbers were provisional and could be affected by administrative needs. RRC-ER application notice
Is the Eastern Railway 3,115 Apprentice form still open?
No. The 2024 application period has ended. RRC-ER’s notice board lists subsequent notices for that cycle, including document-verification and panel notices, as well as a separate 2025–26 apprentice notification. Check the official RRC-ER notice board for the latest notices. A notice-board listing alone does not establish the individual status of every candidate or unit; consult the relevant official notice for a specific case.
What happened after applications closed?
In a cutoff notice dated 18 March 2025, RRC-ER said the process had reached unit-specific document-verification (DV) shortlists. The provisional shortlisting method used the average of applicants’ percentage marks in 10th standard and ITI, and the lists were drawn at 1.5 times the applicable unit-wise, trade-wise and category-wise slot count. This was not one universal cutoff: the relevant unit, trade and category mattered. RRC-ER cutoff notice

RRC-ER expressly cautioned that “Mere inclusion of name in the list of Document Verification does not entitle the candidate for engagement or imparting training in Railway.” A DV call letter or successful verification likewise did not guarantee engagement. The notices also said that completing apprenticeship training did not oblige the Railways to offer employment. These statements describe the railway’s notices; they are not an independent review of current statutory text.
What documents were required for Eastern Railway Apprentice document verification?
For the DV sessions announced in January 2025 for Jamalpur, Asansol and Malda units, RRC-ER instructed candidates to bring their call letter, original documents and copies, and a medical certificate in the prescribed format. The listed records included:
