Electronic Arts reported $1.262 billion in net bookings for its first quarter of fiscal 2025, $12 million above the top of its own guidance range. The company attributed the result to Madden NFL 24, FC Online and FC Mobile. EA’s July 30, 2024 release does not provide a separate analyst-consensus estimate, so the supported comparison is against EA’s guidance—not a quantified measure of investor expectations.
What EA reported for Q1 FY25
The quarter ended June 30, 2024. EA had guided to net bookings of up to $1.250 billion; its reported $1.262 billion was $12 million above that upper end. The result was therefore a beat against the company’s forecast range, as EA described it in its July 30, 2024 earnings release.

The release does not state an analyst consensus figure or another quantified investor benchmark. “Beat investor expectations” may be used as a headline shorthand, but it should not be read as evidence that EA exceeded a specific consensus estimate.
Net bookings and net revenue are different measures
EA reported both $1.262 billion in net bookings and $1.660 billion in net revenue for the quarter. These are distinct measures, not competing estimates of the same figure.

EA defines net bookings as the net amount of products and services sold digitally or sold in physically during a period. Its calculation adds total net revenue to the change in deferred net revenue for online-enabled games. As a result, bookings can differ from revenue recognized during the quarter; the two figures should not be substituted for each other.
What EA said drove the result
EA identified stronger performance across Madden NFL 24, FC Online and FC Mobile as contributors to the bookings result. CEO Andrew Wilson called it a “strong start to FY25” and said the company was “beating net bookings guidance.” CFO Stuart Canfield pointed to execution, live events and continued player engagement.

EA also highlighted that College Football 25 had 5 million unique players in its first week, with more than 500,000 additional players through the EA Play trial. This was a post-quarter operating update, not a driver EA named for the quarter’s bookings.

EA reported $120 million in net cash from operating activities for the quarter and $2.076 billion for the trailing twelve months. It also announced a quarterly cash dividend of $0.19 per common share, payable September 18, 2024, to shareholders of record on August 28, 2024. Those dividend dates are historical.
