There is no reliably verified current figure for Duncan Bannatyne’s personal net worth in the available sources. Two older estimates often repeated online—£300 million, attributed to the 2020 Sunday Times Rich List, and £310 million, attributed to its 2008 list—are historical figures reported by secondary sources, not confirmed valuations for 2026.
How much is Duncan Bannatyne worth?
A precise current net-worth figure is not established. The available estimates differ by more than a decade and come through secondary sources, so they should not be averaged or presented as competing estimates from the same period.
| Figure | What it represents | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| £300 million | Historical estimate attributed to the 2020 Sunday Times Rich List | A 2021 regional research report repeats the attribution; it is not an audited personal balance sheet. Source |
| £310 million | Historical estimate attributed to a 2008 Sunday Times Rich List entry | A Dragons’ Den fan wiki gives the figure and attribution; it is an old, secondary-reported estimate. Source |
Neither figure verifies Bannatyne’s present wealth. A net-worth estimate would require valuing his ownership interests and other assets, then accounting for personal liabilities and other interests. No transparent calculation of that kind is provided by these sources.
Why the Bannatyne Group’s accounts are not his personal net worth
The Bannatyne Group Limited is a company, and its financial results belong to the company. Spark Intel reported, based on Companies House accounts, that the Group had turnover of £158 million and pre-tax profit of £16 million for the year ended 31 December 2025. Those are company figures, not Bannatyne’s personal income or wealth. Spark Intel’s report

Companies House lists the Group’s filings, including accounts for the year ended 31 December 2025 filed in April 2026, and a September 2026 statement of capital. Corporate filings and share-capital information do not disclose a person’s complete assets and liabilities or convert company revenue and profit into a personal net-worth figure. How Duncan Bannatyne made his money
Penguin’s biography traces Bannatyne’s business career from an ice-cream van, which he expanded and sold, to a care-home business. It says Quality Care Homes was sold for £26 million in 1997. He later built the Bannatyne’s Health Clubs chain and invested in bars, hotels and property. Penguin biography

The care-home sale figure is not consistent across the sources surfaced: Penguin gives £26 million in 1997, while a Teesside University search result gives £46 million in 1996. These should not be combined or silently reconciled. A sale price also does not, by itself, establish how much wealth an individual retained or their net worth years later.

A useful personal net-worth estimate would need a dated valuation and a clear method. In Bannatyne’s case, that would mean establishing the value of relevant ownership interests as well as personal assets, liabilities and other interests. Company accounts can provide business context, but they are not a substitute for that personal calculation.
