Quick answer: DoorDash’s October 2025 cybersecurity incident involved limited basic contact information for a small percentage of consumers, Dashers and merchants. For consumers, DoorDash says the information primarily included a name, email address, delivery address and phone number. It says payment-card and bank-account information were not involved. This is separate from DoorDash’s broader May 4, 2019 breach, which included hashed passwords and other data for some users.

Updated August 18, 2026.

Which DoorDash breach does your notice describe?

DoorDash has disclosed two materially different incidents. Match the date and data categories in your notice before deciding what to do.

Incident Date Who was described as affected Information described
Older breach May 4, 2019 Some users who joined on or before April 5, 2018 Contact and profile data, order history and hashed, salted passwords; limited last-four financial data for some people; driver’s-license numbers for approximately 100,000 Dashers
Recent incident October 2025 A small percentage of consumers, Dashers and merchants whose data DoorDash maintained Primarily basic contact information; DoorDash says payment-card and bank-account information were not affected

California’s breach archive records May 4, 2019 as the date of the older incident: California Attorney General breach archive.

What happened in October 2025?

DoorDash says an employee was targeted in a social-engineering and phishing scheme. The unauthorized party then accessed certain internal systems and obtained limited contact information. DoorDash’s annual filing describes the event as financially non-material, while noting investigation, remediation and notification costs: DoorDash 2025 Form 10-K.

The Canadian notice, posted November 13, 2025 and updated December 19, 2025, says the affected population included a mix of consumers, Dashers and merchants. It also says the event involved DoorDash users, not Wolt or Deliveroo customers: DoorDash Canada incident notice.

What contact information was affected?

For consumers, DoorDash identifies the following information as primarily accessed:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Delivery address
  • Phone number

“Contact information” does not automatically mean Social Security numbers, government identification, payment cards, bank details or passwords. The published 2025 descriptions focus on basic contact information and do not provide a precise victim count: DoorDash support notice.

Were payment cards or bank accounts exposed?

For the October 2025 incident, DoorDash says payment-card and bank-account information were not affected. It also reported no indication of fraud or identity theft involving the affected information at the time of its notice. That is an assessment at the time of the notice, not a guarantee that misuse is impossible.

The 2019 incident was different. DoorDash said some consumers’ last four payment-card digits, and some Dashers’ and merchants’ last four bank-account digits, could have been accessed. It said full card numbers, CVV codes and full bank-account information were not accessed, and that the partial data was insufficient by itself to make fraudulent charges or withdrawals: DoorDash 2019 security notice.

Were passwords exposed?

DoorDash’s 2025 description does not identify passwords as affected. In the 2019 breach, hashed and salted passwords were among the information that could have been accessed. Hashing means the stored value was not the plaintext password, but a reused password can still create risk if an attacker guesses it or uses it in credential-stuffing attempts. Change any password that was reused elsewhere.

How to verify whether you were affected

  1. Search your email and spam folders for a DoorDash notice, checking the date and the data categories it names.
  2. Do not use links or phone numbers in a suspicious message. Open the DoorDash app or type the official website address yourself.
  3. Use the DoorDash Help Center or in-app support to confirm whether a notice is genuine.
  4. Use the incident contact number only after confirming it on the current official notice or Help Center; numbers can differ by country and incident.
  5. Never provide a password, one-time login code, payment details, tax information or identity documents to an unsolicited caller or message.

A familiar logo or your real address is not proof that a message came from DoorDash.

What consumers should do now

Basic response for the 2025 contact-information exposure

  • Use a unique DoorDash password. If the same password was used on another service, change it there too.
  • Enable multi-factor authentication on the email account connected to DoorDash and protect that email account first.
  • Review DoorDash orders, saved addresses, payment methods and profile changes for anything unfamiliar.
  • Expect convincing phishing, smishing and phone scams that mention a delivery, refund or address problem.
  • Report suspected account takeover through DoorDash’s official support channel.

When a stronger response is appropriate

A credit freeze or fraud alert is generally proportionate when a notice includes government identification or other sensitive identity data, or when you see identity-theft activity. Basic contact-information exposure alone does not automatically require replacing payment cards or freezing credit. If you clicked a suspicious link, disclosed a code, or see unauthorized orders or account changes, secure your email, change passwords from a clean device and contact DoorDash promptly.

Additional steps for Dashers and merchants

  • Review recent payouts, bank-account details, tax information, profile edits and ownership changes.
  • Be cautious of callers claiming to be DoorDash support and requesting a passcode, password or banking change.
  • Verify unexpected requests through the Merchant Portal or another official support route, not through the incoming message.
  • Document suspicious calls, emails and account changes before reporting them.

DoorDash’s merchant guidance says it will not ask for a one-time login passcode or account password in an unexpected contact and describes enhanced verification for sensitive merchant-account actions: DoorDash merchant fraud protections.

How the May 4, 2019 breach differed

DoorDash said the older breach covered users who joined on or before April 5, 2018. Depending on the user type, potentially accessed information included names, email addresses, delivery addresses, order history, phone numbers and hashed, salted passwords. Some consumers had the last four payment-card digits exposed; some Dashers and merchants had the last four bank-account digits exposed; and driver’s-license numbers for approximately 100,000 Dashers were reportedly involved. Full card numbers, CVVs and full bank-account information were not accessed, according to DoorDash’s notice.

Someone who joined after April 5, 2018 was not identified by DoorDash as affected by that 2019 incident. That cutoff does not establish that the account was never involved in a later event.

What risk does exposed contact information create?

The most credible risk from the 2025 event is social engineering. A message that combines your name, phone number, email address and delivery address can look authentic even when it is not.

  • Fake refund or order-cancellation messages
  • Calls about a supposed delivery problem
  • Requests to “confirm” an address or payment method
  • Fake account-verification pages
  • Requests for a one-time login code
  • Merchant impersonation involving payouts or tax information

Exposure means an unauthorized party could access information. It does not prove the information was publicly posted, sold or used. Misuse, account takeover and identity theft are separate outcomes. DoorDash reported no indication of fraud or identity theft at the time of its Canadian notice.
