The clearest published estimate located puts Don Peebles’ net worth at more than $700 million in 2015, according to Forbes. That is a historical estimate—not a verified figure for 2026. The Peebles Corporation’s reported portfolio value is a separate company measure and cannot be treated as Peebles’ personal wealth.

What is Don Peebles’ net worth?

Forbes estimated Peebles’ net worth at more than $700 million in a November 11, 2015 article by Chloe Sorvino. The estimate was repeated in a May 7, 2019 article on The Peebles Corporation’s website, which also attributed it to Forbes in 2015. The company’s 2019 article therefore does not provide a new valuation.

The available sources do not establish a current, independently supported estimate for 2026. They do not disclose a personal balance sheet, Peebles’ ownership share in private ventures, or the value of his liabilities and other personal assets. A present-day figure would require evidence that these sources do not provide.

Why the company’s $8 billion figure is not his net worth

The Peebles Corporation’s official biography reports more than 10 million square feet of developed projects, an active pipeline exceeding 4 million square feet, and roughly $8 billion in value. These are company-reported measures of development activity, pipeline and portfolio value. They are not a calculation of what Peebles personally owns after debt and other liabilities.

The company’s May 2019 article also described an active and completed development portfolio exceeding 10 million square feet and $8 billion across several U.S. cities. That description is likewise about the company’s portfolio, not Peebles’ personal net worth.

How Don Peebles built his real-estate career

The Peebles Corporation says it was founded in Washington, D.C., in 1983 and identifies Peebles as its chairman and CEO. A Forbes-hosted 2008 briefing document says he worked in his mother’s real-estate business after leaving Rutgers and later chaired Washington, D.C.’s real-estate tax appeals board. A 2014 Wall Street Journal profile republished by the company says he began as a real-estate agent and property appraiser and broke ground on his first building in 1987. These accounts provide career context, but they do not document a current personal valuation.

Peebles has described an investment preference for assets he believes he could sell without losing money in any market. In the 2014 profile, he said: “When I buy, I want to be able to feel good that I can sell it in any market and not lose money.” That is his stated approach, not evidence of investment returns or a measure of his wealth.

For readers interested in his approach to real estate, the Forbes-hosted 2008 biography identifies his book The Peebles Path to Real Estate Wealth: How to Make Money in Any Market; The Peebles Corporation’s books page also lists The Peebles Principles. The books offer career and investing context, not verification of the $700 million estimate.
