The Dogwifhat community raised money in 2024 for a proposed ad on the Las Vegas Sphere, but the venue said in January 2025 that no deal was ever made. The fundraiser set a $650,000 target; Gizmodo reported $705,000 raised by March 14, 2024. Those figures describe a campaign and a publication-time total—not a confirmed Sphere booking.

What the Dogwifhat fundraiser was meant to do

In March 2024, members of the Dogwifhat (WIF) community promoted a fundraiser to display the image of a dog wearing a pink beanie on the Las Vegas Sphere. CoinDesk reported a $650,000 target, with donations accepted in USDC at a wallet controlled by five individuals. The launch followed a March 10 post by Ansem, reproduced by CoinDesk: “iight bros, it’s time, we’re putting dogwifhat on the vegas sphere 🫨”

CoinDesk reported the Sphere’s capacity as more than 18,600 seats. That figure describes the venue, not the size of an audience the proposed advertisement was guaranteed to reach.

How much was raised—and what that number means

Gizmodo reported on March 14, 2024 that the fundraiser had reached its target within days and showed $705,000 raised at publication. This was a report-time figure, not a verified final total or a statement of how the money was ultimately handled. In June 2024, Decrypt reported that the wallet held $699,159 at that time; that dated balance is not a current wallet audit.

The campaign’s stated target, the amount shown by Gizmodo, and the later wallet balance are different measures taken at different times. None, by itself, confirms that the Sphere received payment for an advertisement.

Was the Sphere ad booked or shown?

No confirmed booking or display is established by the available reporting. In June 2024, Decrypt reported that the image had not appeared and that organizers had not provided documentation of contact with the Sphere marketing team or payment for an ad. Organizer Mihir told the Dogwifhat Telegram channel, “The Sphere is still being worked on.” That was a dated account from the organizer, not confirmation from the venue.

In a statement reported by Decrypt on January 31, 2025, a Sphere spokesperson said: “We have never had a deal with Dogwifhat, and our agency at the time only had one very preliminary conversation early last year.” The venue’s later statement is the clearest reported account of the deal status: there was no deal, only one preliminary conversation early in 2024.

Was $650,000 a confirmed Sphere advertising price?

No. Gizmodo reported that the fundraiser’s estimate was intended to cover a week of display space and appeared consistent with a leaked pitch deck. But the venue declined to comment on pricing or when the Dogwifhat image might appear. The figure should therefore be understood as the campaign’s reported budget or estimate, not a confirmed Sphere quote or evidence of a completed purchase.

What is known about the fundraiser money now?

The cited reporting does not establish a current wallet balance or whether donors were refunded. Decrypt’s June 2024 figure of $699,159 is a balance reported at that date, not proof of the wallet’s present contents or the money’s final disposition. The venue’s statement establishes that there was no deal; it does not settle what happened to the funds.
