The record lists Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. as assignee and displays an adjusted expiration date of August 11, 2036. Its legal-status field is expressly an assumption, not a legal conclusion.
What Warner Bros. announced about Wonder Woman
On February 25, 2025, Warner Bros. Games announced that Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman game would not proceed and that the studio would close. Gematsu reproduced the company’s statement: “The development of Monolith’s Wonder Woman video game will not move forward.”
That is a statement about the fate of a particular game in development. It does not say that Warner Bros. gave up, transferred, or otherwise changed the Nemesis System patent.
What the Nemesis System patent record says
The relevant U.S. patent is US10926179B2, titled “Nemesis characters, nemesis forts, social vendettas and followers in computer games.” Google Patents lists Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. as both the original and current assignee. The record displays these dates:

The dates and assignee are those shown in the Google Patents record for US10926179B2, accessed October 8, 2026. Google Patents cautions that its legal-status field is an assumption, not a legal conclusion. The displayed expiration date should therefore not be treated on its own as a determination that the patent is enforceable through that date.
How the patent relates to the released games
The Nemesis System is commonly described as a gameplay system in which enemies remember encounters with the player and can change over time, including in level, strengths, and weaknesses. That is a high-level description, not a complete account of the patent claims.

The released games associated with the system are Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. GameSpot lists their release dates as September 30, 2014, and October 9, 2017, respectively. The canceled Wonder Woman game has no released implementation to compare; the available statements do not establish that its version of the system was complete or publicly demonstrated.

The cancellation announcement and the patent record address different things: one is the status of a game project, and the other is a recorded intellectual-property matter. The patent listing identifies an assignee and displays dates, but the information here does not determine enforceability, the precise scope of the patent claims, maintenance-fee status, or the result of any challenge.
