What is known about Parsons’s Big Bang Theory pay?
In 2014, CBS News reported, citing Deadline, that Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco were moving from $350,000 to about $1 million per episode under newly negotiated seasons of The Big Bang Theory. The report also said their share of the show’s back-end was increasing. CBS News’s 2014 report describes reported contract terms, not an audited account of Parsons’s total earnings or a rate that can be assumed to have applied in every season.

A 2017 CBS News report said five original cast members accepted a reported $100,000-per-episode pay cut in connection with raises for Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch. That later reported adjustment is another reason not to treat the roughly $1 million figure as a fixed rate across the entire series. CBS News’s 2017 report does not provide a complete season-by-season accounting of Parsons’s compensation.
What did Parsons earn from Young Sheldon?
Paramount’s official Young Sheldon publicity identifies Parsons as the series’ narrator and an executive producer. Those credits establish his work on the show, but they do not say what he was paid. Paramount’s series press materials provide no verified per-episode rate or total compensation for Parsons.

Narration and executive producing are different roles from appearing as a lead actor, and compensation could involve more than one category. But without disclosed contract terms, it would be speculation to turn either credit into a salary estimate. The available reporting does not establish a comparable Young Sheldon figure.
Why the $26.5 million estimate does not answer the question
TIME’s 2018 summary of Forbes’s actor earnings list put Parsons’s estimated earnings for that year at $26.5 million. It associated the estimate with The Big Bang Theory, endorsements and his Young Sheldon executive-producer role, without separating how much came from each source. TIME’s 2018 summary therefore cannot be used as a Young Sheldon-only salary—or as a direct comparison of the two shows.

It is an annual estimate across income sources, not a disclosed contract amount. It also does not establish Parsons’s total earnings over either show’s full run.

Comparing earnings from the two series would require comparable figures for the same kinds of compensation. Relevant distinctions include:

- Per-episode acting salary and the number of episodes covered;
- narration or producer compensation on Young Sheldon;
- back-end participation and residuals; and
- the seasons and contract terms each reported figure covers.
The public figures cited for The Big Bang Theory cover reported contract terms at particular points, while the cited official materials for Young Sheldon confirm Parsons’s roles but not his pay. The available information cannot establish which series brought him more money.
