GameStop’s reported 10% Retro Trade-In Bonus was a limited-time promotion announced in March 2026—not a confirmed offer today. The report said the bonus applied as extra store credit for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U consoles, games, and accessories. Before making a trip, check with your local store for current eligibility, the quote, payment type, accessory requirements, and any promotion end date.
What was GameStop’s retro trade-in offer?
ExtremeTech reported on March 18, 2026, that GameStop had introduced a limited-time Retro Trade-In Bonus: an extra 10% store credit on top of the usual assessed trade value for PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U consoles, games, and accessories. The report did not give model-specific base values, so it does not establish a particular payout. A 10% uplift is calculated from the store’s applicable trade value; it is not a fixed cash amount.
The report also said stores would accept defective retro consoles if they powered on, even if accessories were missing or the console had heavy cosmetic wear. Those are reported terms of that promotion, not confirmation of GameStop’s current condition or trade-in policy. ExtremeTech’s report, republished by Yahoo Tech, is dated March 18, 2026.
Is the 10% retro bonus available now?
It has not been established that the March promotion is still active. GameStop’s official site currently lists a separate general Pro membership benefit: 10% extra trade credit on games, consoles, and more. The page displays a $25 annual membership price, but it does not confirm that PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii U items qualify for a special retro bonus. Check GameStop’s Pro page for the general membership benefit; contact the store about the specific items you plan to trade.

Do not treat the general Pro benefit as proof that the March retro promotion continues. Nor does either 10% figure tell you the dollar value of your console: the base offer depends on GameStop’s assessment, and no current model-by-model quote is established here.

- Whether that store currently accepts your console model, games, or accessories.
- The assessed base trade value and whether any promotion is active; ask for the promotion’s end date and whether the bonus is store credit or another form of payment.
- Whether the console must power on, and how damage, missing cables, controllers, or other accessories affect acceptance and value.
- What items you must bring and whether the quoted value is conditional on their inclusion.
The March report’s statement about defective consoles applied to units that could power on. It does not establish that a console that will not power on will be accepted.

A local resale buyer may offer a different payment form or apply different condition rules. Compare the actual quote and the effort required to get it, rather than comparing a promotional percentage with another seller’s headline claim.

| What to compare | GameStop | PayMore in Las Vegas |
|---|---|---|
| Items named by the source | The March 2026 report named PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U consoles, games, and accessories for the limited-time bonus; current eligibility is not established. | PayMore lists PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U consoles, games, and accessories for its Las Vegas market. |
| How the offer is determined | The bonus was reported as 10% on top of the usual trade value; no model-specific base quote is available. | PayMore says offers consider condition, original components, and local comparable sales. |
| Payment form | The reported retro bonus was store credit. Confirm the payment form for any current offer. | PayMore says accepted offers can be paid in cash or store credit. |
| Geographic availability | Confirm acceptance and terms with your local GameStop. | The cited service information is for Las Vegas, not a universal offer. |
PayMore’s Las Vegas video-game console page describes its local service, not a guaranteed price or a nationwide alternative. Request an offer for your own console, then weigh the amount and payment type against travel or shipping effort, accessory requirements, and the possibility that a GameStop promotion is no longer active.
