Should you file a claim for a broken side mirror?
Compare the applicable deductible with a written repair estimate before deciding. Ask your insurer which coverage it would apply to this specific event and what deductible applies. Does comprehensive insurance cover a broken side mirror?

What if another driver damaged your mirror?
If another driver caused the damage, that driver’s property-damage liability coverage may be relevant, depending on fault and applicable law. You can also ask your insurer whether your own collision coverage may apply while responsibility is being resolved. Coverage, limits, exclusions, and the claims process depend on the policies and circumstances. Liability is not ordinarily coverage for damage to your own car when you cause it.
