There is no demonstrated universal winner: the available evidence does not show that Amazon is cheaper on Black Friday than Cyber Monday, or vice versa. Amazon’s 2025 promotion ran across both dates, with offers changing during the event. For a purchase, compare the same item’s price on the day you plan to buy with its recent price history—not just its advertised discount.
What Amazon’s sale schedule tells you
Amazon described its 2025 Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday promotion as running from November 20 through December 1, beginning at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on November 20. Black Friday fell on November 28 and Cyber Monday on December 1 that year. Amazon said the combined event included millions of offers across categories such as home, electronics, beauty and apparel, with new deal drops during the promotion. These are Amazon’s descriptions of its event, not an independent price audit or evidence that either headline day was cheaper. Amazon’s 2025 event announcement and its 2025 calendar guide document those dates and claims.
Those dates are historical, not a schedule for 2026. Amazon’s 2025 announcement also included selected examples such as up to 50% off selected electronics and kitchen appliances and up to 55% off selected home products. “Up to” describes a maximum advertised discount on selected items; it does not mean every item in a category received that discount, or that one sale day had the lowest price.
How to compare a specific Amazon deal
A useful comparison is about the exact item and offer, not Black Friday versus Cyber Monday in the abstract. Amazon says its Alexa for Shopping feature can show 30-, 90- and 365-day price histories. Amazon reported that more than 50 million customers had checked price history since the feature launched in 2024. Its 2026 article said 365-day insights were rolling out in the U.S., UK and India, with full availability expected in the coming weeks, so the feature may not be available to every shopper yet. - Identify the exact model or listing you want; a similar-looking product or different configuration is not a like-for-like comparison.
- Note the current price and the seller or offer. Check any delivery cost and purchase conditions that apply to you.
- Review whatever 30-, 90- or 365-day price history is available for that item. Treat it as context about recent prices, not a promise that the price will fall further.
- If the item is still available on both dates, compare its actual price and terms on each date. Amazon says offers can change and new deals can drop during the event.
This method can help you judge whether the offer is attractive for that product; it does not produce a general verdict about which sale day is better.
Why a retailer price comparison does not settle the question
Amazon’s summary of a 2025 Profitero study says it covered more than 10,000 items across 16 product categories and found Amazon’s prices averaged 14% lower than those of other major U.S. retailers across those categories. That comparison is between retailers, as reported by Amazon; it is not a comparison of Amazon’s own Black Friday and Cyber Monday prices. It therefore cannot establish which Amazon sale day offers better deals. Amazon’s summary of the Profitero study gives the scope and claim.
