The planned Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee was reported cancelled before production, but Dodge did not confirm that specific report. Car and Driver attributed the claim to Mopar Insiders on October 1, 2025; a Dodge representative declined to confirm it and instead said Stellantis was reassessing product strategy. The Banshee’s status therefore remains reported, not officially settled. This is distinct from the Charger lineup overall: Dodge says the Charger was not discontinued, and its 2026 range includes both electric Daytona and gasoline SIXPACK models.
What was the Banshee, and what is known about its cancellation?
The Charger Daytona SRT Banshee was described as a planned, range-topping electric Charger—not a marketed production trim. Car and Driver reported that the program had been cancelled before production, citing Mopar Insiders. The same report said Dodge had not confirmed final horsepower figures; estimates of roughly 1,000 hp were projections, not an official specification. Its reported 800-volt architecture and two-speed transmission were also plans described in the report, not confirmed production equipment. Car and Driver’s October 1, 2025 report
A Dodge representative quoted in that article said, “Stellantis continues to reassess its product strategy to align with consumer demand. Our plan ensures we offer customers a range of vehicles with flexible powertrain options that best meet their needs.” That statement discusses product strategy and powertrain flexibility; it does not explicitly say the Banshee was cancelled. The representative was not named in the article.
Does that mean Dodge discontinued the Charger or all Charger EVs?
No. Dodge’s current FAQ says the Charger was not discontinued and describes both gasoline and electric versions. That answers the question about the nameplate, but it does not resolve whether the specific Banshee program was cancelled, paused, or revived. Dodge’s 2026 Charger FAQ

How does the European lineup differ?
Dodge’s June 10, 2026 announcement concerns Europe, where orders were open through the official importer and dealer network for Daytona and SIXPACK Charger R/T and Scat Pack variants. It lists the European Daytona R/T at 536 hp and the Scat Pack at up to 670 hp, and reports a 100.5 kWh battery. Those specifications and ordering details should not be treated as U.S. lineup information. The launch announcement also describes a special-price home charging station and installation offer powered by Free2move; it is a market-specific offer, not a general charger recommendation. Dodge’s European order announcement, June 10, 2026
Fabio Catone, Head of Brand for Dodge in Europe, described that region’s multi-powertrain strategy this way: “The next-generation Charger brings Dodge muscle into a new era without losing what made it iconic in the first place: attitude, performance and emotional driving,” and said European customers would have both all-electric and gasoline-powered versions. The statement describes the European Charger range, not the Banshee program or its reported cancellation.
