Some customers alleged in October 2024 that cheese in Lunchly pizza kits looked moldy, but the reports do not establish that Lunchly meals generally—or even a measurable share of them—were contaminated. The allegations focused on individual packages; no representative testing or prevalence estimate is cited in the available reporting.
What prompted the Lunchly mold allegations?
Lunchly, introduced in 2024 by creators associated with MrBeast, Logan Paul and KSI, included pizza, turkey-and-cheese-with-crackers, and nachos varieties. The 2024 mold reports focused on cheese in the pizza kit, which was sold with a Prime drink and Feastables chocolate. Fortune reported on October 22, 2024 that Rosanna Pansino said she opened a pizza package and found what she believed was blue mold on its shredded cheese; she said the package had a December expiration date. Other social-media posts also made mold claims.
Dexerto reported that Pansino later posted an uncut clip after people accused her of staging the discovery. That addresses the dispute over the video, but a video alone does not identify the substance through laboratory analysis or show how common the issue was.
What is established—and what is not?
- Established in the reporting: Pansino and other consumers publicly alleged that some Lunchly food appeared moldy, with the reported examples focused on pizza-kit cheese.
- Not established by those reports: laboratory confirmation of contamination, a representative survey, or a reliable rate of affected packages.
- Not a sound measure of contamination: the number of views or social posts. Those figures do not count confirmed affected meals.
It would therefore be inaccurate to conclude that all or most Lunchly meals had mold. The coverage documents consumer allegations, not a finding about the product line as a whole.

What did Lunchly say?
On October 22, 2024, Lunchly told Dexerto: “All Lunchly products go through a stringent review process to ensure the quality and safety of its products.” The company said the process included multiple inspections and approvals, including USDA involvement, before a product left the manufacturing facility. This is Lunchly’s account of its quality controls; the reporting does not independently verify the controls or the condition of every package. It also does not establish that USDA certified every package mold-free. Dexerto’s report relayed the company’s response.
Was Lunchly recalled?
On October 28, 2024, Logan Paul denied online rumors that Lunchly had been recalled. Dexerto said its check of the FDA site at that time found no Lunchly recall report. That is a historical account of an October 2024 check, not confirmation of the product’s recall status on October 8, 2026. Read Dexerto’s contemporaneous report.

The FDA’s public records have different purposes. Its Enforcement Reports include recalls it monitors once they are classified; some may appear before classification. The FDA’s foodborne-illness investigation page is not a complete list of every consumer complaint or a blanket safety certification. The agency explains that “Adverse event investigations rely on self-reported data” and that it will not publicly name a specific product until there is sufficient evidence to implicate it. So the absence of a product name on one public page cannot, by itself, prove either that no complaint exists or that a product is safe.

If you have a Lunchly package that appears moldy, do not eat the suspect food. Keep the packaging and identifying details available, such as the variety, lot or date code, and expiration date, in case a retailer or food-safety authority needs them. For illness concerns, contact a healthcare professional and relevant public-health authorities; the FDA also directs consumers with health concerns to seek appropriate medical advice on its outbreak investigation guidance. The allegations described here do not establish the safety of any individual package.
