Hard Fizz planned to give away 100 branded beach umbrellas at Bathers Beach House in Fremantle from noon on Saturday, 7 December 2024. PerthNow reported the promotion before the event; it did not confirm whether the giveaway took place or whether any umbrellas remain available.
What Hard Fizz announced
PerthNow reported that Hard Fizz, the alcohol brand launched by Fisher in 2020 according to the same report, planned to distribute 100 branded beach umbrellas. The event was scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday, 7 December 2024, at Bathers Beach House in Fremantle. The report did not identify an umbrella model, specifications, price or retail source.
Hard Fizz Marketing Manager Joel Scott urged people to arrive early, saying, “Get down early, we’ll be hanging out and giving away some shade.” PerthNow also attributed to Scott his recollection of an earlier Gold Coast giveaway: “The last time we did this (on the Gold Coast), it went nuts — people just flocked to get one.” These are statements reported from the brand, not independently verified attendance figures.
Why the brand said it was giving away umbrellas
PerthNow said Hard Fizz hoped the promotion would encourage sun protection as summer began. Scott described the giveaway as showing “some love” to the West with an “early Christmas present.” Those comments explain the brand’s stated intent; the report contains no evidence measuring a public-health effect.
