The claim that the United States sanctioned six Indian companies over Iran oil trade is not verified by the official announcements identified for this story. The confirmed action most likely to cause confusion is an October 11, 2024 U.S. designation of six entities in several jurisdictions, including one India-based company—not six Indian companies.
What the official record confirms
On October 11, 2024, the U.S. Department of State announced designations of six entities for significant transactions involving Iranian petroleum under section 3(a)(ii) of Executive Order 13846. The department said the conduct involved purchasing, acquiring, selling, transporting, or marketing petroleum or petroleum products from Iran. Its list included India-based Gabbaro Ship Services PVT LTD, which it described as involved in petroleum transport. The State Department’s announcement identifies a mixed-jurisdiction group, not six Indian companies.
The U.S. Treasury also announced the October 2024 action. Neither official announcement establishes the separate claim that six Indian companies were sanctioned. Treasury’s release corroborates the action and its consequences.
Why the six-company claim remains unverified
An unofficial online result names Kanchan Polymers, Alchemical Solutions, Ramniklal S Gosalia and Company, Jupiter Dye Chem, Global Industrial Chemicals, and Persistent Petrochem. No matching State Department or Treasury announcement was located to verify these as sanctioned targets. These names should not be treated as confirmed designations or repeated as fact.

- detailed 12-inch scale model representing a modern commercial oil tanker. This replica celebrates the "titans of trade," featuring the classic flat-deck design, complex piping systems, stern bridge superstructure, and bulbous bow found on real-world supertankers.
- Unlike standard ship models, this piece showcases the intricate network of deck piping, valves, and catwalks characteristic of liquid cargo vessels. The multi-colored design (green deck, white superstructure, black/red hull) provides an authentic industrial look without the need for painting.
- Designed as a static display piece for logistics professionals, oil and gas industry workers, merchant mariners, and naval engineers. Its sturdy, flat-bottomed hull sits stable on any desk, shelf, or bookcase, making it a perfect professional accent for a corporate office or home study.

For a sanctions claim, the company names, date, legal authority, and underlying government notice matter. A list circulating online, without a corresponding official notice or reliable corroboration, does not establish that a company was designated.
What U.S. sanctions meant for the entities in the 2024 action
For the entities designated in October 2024, the State Department said property and interests in property within the United States or in the possession or control of U.S. persons were blocked and had to be reported to the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). That description applies to the entities in that specific action; it is not evidence of consequences for the unverified six-company claim.

How to check for a later or different action
Sanctions status can change, so check the primary announcement and current OFAC records before relying on a company name or status. OFAC’s Iran sanctions program page is a general reference, not proof of this particular six-company action. A credible account of the claim should identify the date, all six companies, the legal authority, and the official notice or reliable reporting that supports those details.
