What does the reported $25 million represent?
TheWrap reported an early industry estimate of more than $25 million across 600 theaters during the event’s two days, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The screenings were timed with the finale’s Netflix release, but they did not use ordinary paid movie tickets: participating chains reserved seats through food-and-beverage voucher purchases. TheWrap reported that theaters kept the proceeds and Netflix took no revenue from the limited event. The estimate should therefore be understood as reported event or concession-voucher revenue, not as an audited conventional box-office gross or Netflix earnings.
TheWrap said AMC and Cinemark charged $20 for vouchers, while Regal charged $11. Those different prices are one reason the early overall estimate was difficult to pin down. The available reporting does not establish that Netflix independently confirmed or audited the $25 million-plus figure.
How much did AMC report?
AMC Entertainment Holdings reported that more than 753,000 fans attended the finale at 231 participating U.S. theaters over the two days. AMC said it collected more than $15.0 million from the required $20-per-person food-and-beverage credits. These are AMC’s company-reported attendance and credit-revenue figures; they are not a breakdown of the overall industry estimate.

AMC said its theaters made up slightly more than one-third of the total theater count showing the finale, while the company estimated that more than half of attendees went to AMC. The company had announced approximately 200 U.S. locations in advance, then reported 231 participating theaters after the event. Its January 2, 2026 statement also said it added showtimes, reaching more than nine times the seating capacity originally envisioned.
How did the theater event work?
AMC’s advance announcement described a two-night engagement on December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026, at approximately 200 U.S. locations. At AMC, fans reserved a seat by purchasing a $20 food-and-beverage credit to use at concessions on the event day. CEO Adam Aron summarized the arrangement: “The admissions price was free, but required the mandatory purchase of a $20 per-person food and beverage credit.”

AMC said it had begun discussing additional Netflix programming for theaters, but did not confirm a specific future event.
