Yes. Newzoo’s June 18, 2026 retrospective estimates that the global games market generated $201.6 billion in 2025, up 9.1% from 2024. That is a later estimate of what happened, not a forecast made before 2025 began. Growth was broad but uneven: PC expanded fastest among the major platforms, mobile remained largest by revenue, and console grew more slowly.
What the 2025 growth figures measure
Newzoo’s latest all-platform estimate puts 2025 global games revenue at $201.6 billion, a 9.1% year-over-year increase. The figure is a commercial market-research estimate published in a retrospective on June 18, 2026; it should not be confused with an earlier forecast for the year.
A separate Newzoo analysis published March 12, 2026, reported 7% year-over-year growth for the PC-and-console segment. That narrower figure is not a competing estimate for the same all-platform total: it has a different scope and analytical framing. The later retrospective revised the all-platform market total above prior estimates. Newzoo’s 2025 market retrospective and its PC-and-console analysis should therefore be read as distinct measures.

These platform revenue amounts are Newzoo estimates for calendar 2025, reported in its June 18, 2026 retrospective. Revenue share and growth rate answer different questions: mobile was the largest segment in dollars, while PC had the highest percentage growth. The figures do not by themselves show how profitable publishers or individual studios were.
Why revenue increased
PC: a broad slate of premium releases
Newzoo links PC’s growth to releases across price points, including Battlefield 6, Monster Hunter Wilds, Peak, Path of Exile 2 and ARC Raiders. Its account does not attribute the result to one blockbuster alone; the breadth of the slate mattered.

Console: full games and subscriptions
On console, spending on full games and multi-game subscriptions offset declines in downloadable content and microtransactions. The platform still grew, but its 2.8% year-over-year increase was substantially lower than PC’s or mobile’s.
Mobile: higher revenue despite fewer downloads
Mobile revenue rose while worldwide download volumes declined. In Newzoo’s analysis, that points to stronger monetization of the audience rather than growth in the number of downloads. The firm also reports rising user-acquisition costs, a factor that can put pressure on the economics of acquiring players.

Where growth was strongest geographically
Newzoo estimates that revenue increased in every region in 2025, though rates varied. Middle East and Africa recorded the fastest growth, while North America grew more slowly than the global market.

What market growth does—and does not—say
A larger revenue total is evidence of growth in the measured games market, not proof that everyone in the industry benefited. The Newzoo analyses cited here do not establish whether employment increased, studio finances improved broadly, or working conditions got better. Those outcomes require separate evidence and should not be inferred from revenue alone.
Newzoo also forecasts a 5.1% compound annual growth rate for the global market from 2025 through 2028, reaching $234.4 billion by 2028. That is a forecast published in the June 2026 retrospective, not a measured result or guarantee.
