The headline’s suggestion that completion was still expected “within 48 hours” is now out of date.
When did the Sheffield United takeover complete?
Sheffield United announced on 23 December 2024 that it had come under new ownership. The club named COH Sports as the buyer and said the group was led by Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy. The club’s announcement and BBC Sport’s report that day both confirm the takeover had completed.
The club said the transaction covered the men’s club, Sheffield United Women, SUFC Hotel Ltd and real estate. The club’s 2024/25 annual report later recorded the acquisition as completed by COH Sports, led by Eltoukhy and Rosen. Sheffield United’s annual report provides that retrospective confirmation.
Was the deal worth £105 million?
ITV News Calendar reported on 23 December 2024 that the transaction was “thought to be worth £105million.” That is a contemporaneous media estimate, not a final purchase price confirmed in the club’s announcement. ITV’s report also reproduced a statement from the new owners: “We are honoured and humbled to become the new owners of this historic football club.”

What is known about Steve Rosen’s role?
Rosen was one of the leaders of COH Sports alongside Helmy Eltoukhy, according to the club’s ownership announcement. Companies House records Steven Harlan Rosen’s appointment as a director on 23 December 2024. The Companies House appointments record supports his directorship; it does not establish the deal’s purchase price or other financial terms.

On 20 August 2026, EFLChampionship.co.uk reported that the High Court had wound up COH Sports Bidco after United World pursued a dispute over sums it said remained unpaid from the sale. The report described possible EFL disqualification consequences for Rosen as potential, not as a completed decision. The report does not establish a final EFL ruling, a subsequent settlement or appeal, or a change in Sheffield United’s ownership. Those outcomes should not be inferred from the reported winding-up order or the parties’ payment dispute.
