How the later meeting fits the timeline
Khan’s June 2024 comment came before the reported meeting
On June 21, 2024, a report quoted Khan saying, “I’ve never met him or talked to him in my life.” That statement was made before the later-reported meeting, so it should not be read as a denial of that meeting. Wrestling News Source’s contemporaneous account reported the comment.
A meeting was reported in July 2024
Fightful reported that Khan and McMahon met in Texas in July 2024. McMahon later issued a statement saying they discussed their shared love of wrestling and the rewards and challenges of working with family, as reported by POST Wrestling. A meeting is distinct from a hiring, signing, or agreement to work together.

Khan described the conversation in 2026
In coverage of a 2026 interview, Fightful quoted Khan describing “one really pleasant conversation” with McMahon that lasted a few hours at an airport. Khan also said, “I don’t think he was interested in being a character on a wrestling show.” These are Khan’s remarks as reproduced in the report, not evidence of a specific role or deal. Fightful’s April 7, 2026 coverage includes the interview quotes; F4W/Wrestling Observer also reported Khan’s comment about an on-screen role.

The reports cited here do not establish that McMahon signed with AEW, became an on-screen character, or began working with the company. In March 2025, Fightful reported that no deal had been made and that it had heard of no follow-up plan; people the outlet spoke with within AEW said the sides were not working together. Fightful also said it could not verify a reported request for equity, so that claim should not be treated as established fact.
