The 9.65% figure in the headline is not confirmed by the available disclosures. SBI Funds Management reported that its mutual fund schemes collectively held 5.4264% of Amagi Media Labs at the close of January 21, 2026. Later figures refer to different dates or ownership scopes, so they do not establish that SBI’s combined stake reached 9.65%.
What SBI’s January 2026 disclosure says
In a January 22, 2026 filing under Regulation 29(1) of the SEBI (Substantial Acquisition of Shares & Takeovers) Regulations, 2011, SBI Funds Management said its schemes acquired 7,732,654 Amagi shares on January 21. After the acquisition, the schemes held 11,739,523 shares, or 5.4264% of Amagi’s paid-up share capital at that day’s close. Read the SBI Funds Management disclosure.
Why other reported percentages do not verify 9.65%
Ownership percentages can refer to different groups of investors, individual schemes, dates, or denominators. Those measures are not interchangeable.
| Reported figure | What it measures | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| 5.4264% | SBI Mutual Fund schemes’ combined holding after the January 21 acquisition, measured against paid-up share capital. | SBI Funds Management disclosure dated January 22, 2026; Business Standard-hosted filing. |
| 15.40% | All mutual funds’ aggregate holding in Amagi, not SBI’s stake. | June 2026; ET Money. |
| 7.65% | SBI Small Cap Fund’s reported holding in a June 2026 shareholding table. This is one scheme, not necessarily the combined holdings of SBI Mutual Fund schemes. | June 2026; Trendlyne. |
| 7.65% | A stake attributed to SBI Mutual Fund in a September 7, 2026 report. The accessible report does not establish that its date and scope match the 9.65% headline claim. | September 7, 2026; Business Standard. |
Do not confuse a portfolio weight with company ownership
A percentage in a fund factsheet may show how much of a scheme’s assets are invested in a company; it does not necessarily show how much of that company the fund owns. An HDFC Mutual Fund factsheet lists Amagi at 0.21% in a portfolio, while a separate subtotal in the same document is 9.65%. That subtotal is not an Amagi ownership figure and does not support a claim about SBI. See the HDFC Mutual Fund factsheet.

What would confirm a 9.65% SBI stake?
A newer exchange or regulatory disclosure would need to identify the relevant transaction or reporting date and SBI’s share count. To compare it with the January filing, check whether it covers one scheme or SBI Mutual Fund’s schemes in aggregate, and which share-capital denominator it uses. Without those details, the 9.65% figure cannot be treated as a verified SBI holding.
