No. Mark Zuckerberg left Harvard before completing his undergraduate degree. Harvard later awarded him an honorary degree, but that was not a completed college program.
What happened at Harvard?
Zuckerberg entered Harvard College as a member of the Class of 2006. In fall 2005, he left Cambridge for Silicon Valley to focus on Facebook. Harvard Gazette recounts his departure and his later return for Commencement: Harvard Gazette’s account. A contemporaneous report by The Harvard Crimson said he planned to “forego a Harvard degree” and quoted him saying, “I’m not coming back”: The Harvard Crimson.
Did Harvard give him a degree?
Yes, but it was an honorary degree. Harvard awarded Zuckerberg the honor at its 2017 Commencement; the university’s official history of honorary degrees lists him among that year’s recipients. An honorary degree recognizes someone’s accomplishments; it is not an earned bachelor’s degree and does not mean he returned to finish his undergraduate studies.
What did Zuckerberg say about dropping out?
In his May 25, 2017, Harvard Commencement address, Zuckerberg described himself as a dropout: “I’m an unlikely speaker, not just because I dropped out, but because we’re technically in the same generation.” He also joked, “If I get through this speech, it’ll be the first time I actually finish something at Harvard.” The Harvard Gazette published the address transcript.
