The approximately $500,000 figure comes from a secondary report, and the available accounts do not establish that the cars were bought or customized to “crash” the Grammys.
What was reported about the Maybachs?
TMZ reported on February 4, 2025, that West had two 2025 Mercedes-Maybach S680s customized by Elite Auto Network. The reported work included a high-gloss chrome wrap, Chrome Monoblock wheels and mirror tint. TMZ identified the wrap material as Conform Chrome Silver Film. TMZ’s February 4 report
Elite Auto Network told TMZ that the process took 10 days per car, counting from purchase through the completed customization. That is the reported project timeline, not a stated estimate for the wrap work alone.
Is the half-million-dollar figure verified?
Finance Monthly reported on February 7 that the two cars and extras came to around $500,000. That is a secondary outlet’s estimate, not a documented total: TMZ’s original car story did not provide an itemized amount, and neither account supplies an invoice or independently verified transaction record. TMZ described newer Maybachs as costing around $240,000. That is a reported sticker-price approximation, not a verified price paid for either S680. It should not be treated as proof of the cars’ purchase prices or as an itemized explanation for the reported half-million-dollar total. TMZ’s February 4 report
Did West customize the cars to “crash” the Grammys?
The reporting supports a narrower account: West and Bianca Censori arrived at the Grammy Awards on February 2, 2025, and TMZ said one of the Maybachs was driven to the ceremony and after-party. The event report confirms their arrival, but neither it nor the customization report establishes that West bought or modified the cars with the intention of crashing the event.
