His Justice World Tour’s remaining dates were cancelled in February 2023. A 2025 report, citing unnamed sources, alleged he owed promoter AEG about $20 million; Bieber’s representatives disputed the financial-distress claims. The sources do not establish a second cancelled world tour or a verified personal loss.
What was cancelled, and when?
The tour at issue was the Justice World Tour. The timeline matters because the first announcement was a pause, not a notice cancelling every remaining date.

September 2022: a touring break
On September 7, 2022, AEGX’s Japan tour site said Bieber had decided to take a break from touring. The notice said the Asia leg was then expected to continue as scheduled. It should not be read as the final cancellation of all outstanding dates. AEGX’s September 2022 notice
February 2023: remaining dates cancelled
On February 28, 2023, AEG Presents/AEGX announced that all remaining Justice World Tour dates were cancelled. The Japan notice directed ticket holders to refund procedures that varied by seller and purchaser type. Those instructions were specific to Japan and historical; they do not establish current refund rights elsewhere. AEGX’s cancellation notice

ITV reported that the cancellation followed earlier postponements amid Bieber’s recovery from Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Its report said the tour had generated over $55 million (£46 million) in revenue over the previous year. That is reported tour revenue—not Bieber’s personal earnings, profit, a debt figure, or the amount lost because of cancellation. ITV News, March 1, 2023
Where did the $20 million claim come from?
In April 2025, Us Weekly summarized a report by The Hollywood Reporter that cited unnamed insiders estimating Bieber owed promoter AEG about $20 million, following a reported $40 million advance. The figures were not presented as audited accounts or independently verified financial statements.

Bieber’s representatives told The Hollywood Reporter that claims of financial distress “bear no resemblance to reality.” Us Weekly also reported a further response describing the story as based on unnamed, ill-informed sources and saying its assumptions were inaccurate. The allegation and the denial are both part of the public record; neither establishes the actual balance of any account between Bieber and AEG. Us Weekly, April 16, 2025
Revenue, an advance, debt, and a personal loss are different things
The numbers attached to the story refer to different accounting categories and cannot be treated as interchangeable:
Rank #3
- Over $55 million in revenue: ITV’s reported figure for tour revenue over the previous year. It does not show how much remained after costs or how much Bieber personally received.
- $40 million advance: A reported advance cited in the 2025 account of the allegations. An advance is not, by itself, proof of a personal loss or the amount ultimately owed.
- About $20 million allegedly owed: An estimate attributed to unnamed insiders and disputed by Bieber’s representatives, not a verified debt balance.
- Personal loss caused by cancellation: The cited sources do not quantify or verify this amount.
Without contract details, settlement records, or audited financial statements, tour revenue and a disputed debt estimate cannot establish how much Bieber lost personally because dates were cancelled.

The sources cited here document one Justice World Tour cancellation: the February 2023 notice covering its remaining dates. They do not substantiate a second, newly cancelled Bieber world tour. A pause announced in September 2022 and the later final cancellation are two stages in the same tour’s timeline, not evidence of two separate cancelled tours.
On July 8, 2026, FIFA announced Bieber as a co-headliner for the 2026 World Cup final halftime show, scheduled for July 19, 2026. That announcement concerns a performance, not a world-tour schedule, and does not resolve the disputed AEG financial claim. FIFA announcement, July 8, 2026
