There’s no public evidence showing how much Eminem or Machine Gun Kelly personally earned from their feud—or that both made an “outlandish” amount. The clash drove attention and chart activity, especially for Eminem’s “Killshot,” but streams and chart units are measures of consumption, not take-home pay. The artists’ contracts, rights shares, costs, and the revenue the releases would have earned without the feud are not established by the available reporting.
What the chart and streaming figures show
The public figures document strong audience activity around Eminem’s releases as the dispute escalated. They do not show how much money reached either artist.
- Kamikaze: Billboard reported that Eminem’s album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 434,000 equivalent album units in 2018. That is a first-week chart measure, not a payment to Eminem, and the album was already commercially successful as the feud escalated. Billboard’s 2018 reporting.
- “Killshot”: Billboard reported 51.3 million streams in its first tracking week in 2018 and placed it at No. 2 on Streaming Songs. The report said 94 percent of those streams came from video views. These figures describe reported consumption, not royalties paid to the artist. Billboard’s 2018 reporting.
- Hot 100: The FADER reported in September 2018 that “Killshot” debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. A chart position does not disclose an artist’s personal revenue share. The FADER’s September 2018 coverage.
Why streams and chart units do not equal artist income
Equivalent album units, streams, and chart positions are indicators of how a release performed under chart measurement systems. They are not interchangeable with cash received by an artist. Revenue may be distributed among rights holders, labels, publishers, producers, and others; the relevant contract terms and ownership shares are not public in the cited reporting. Costs also matter when assessing profit rather than gross revenue.
Eminem’s official site has reported cumulative RIAA career award totals after new certifications and explained that RIAA certifications count eligible digital sales and on-demand streams under its program. Those career totals span many releases and cannot be attributed to this feud. Eminem’s official site on RIAA certifications.

What the evidence does—and does not—establish
What it supports
- The exchange drew a large audience, and “Killshot” performed strongly on streaming and chart measures.
- Kamikaze had a major first-week chart result in Billboard’s 2018 report.
- The dispute coincided with visible commercial activity, but the figures cited measure chart performance and consumption rather than either artist’s personal earnings.
What it cannot answer
- The dollar amount either artist earned from the feud, or whether that amount was profit after expenses.
- How revenue was divided among the artists and other rights holders.
- How much of the releases’ performance was caused by the feud rather than what would have happened without it.
- Whether the financial effect was comparable for Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly.
So, did they both make an outlandish amount?
The public numbers do not justify that claim. They show a commercially visible moment, particularly for Eminem’s “Killshot,” but they neither establish a specific earnings figure for either artist nor prove that both benefited equally. Without public information on revenue shares, costs, and the releases’ likely performance absent the feud, any precise estimate of feud-driven personal income would be speculation.
