Yes. Dragon Age: The Veilguard edged Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s previous peak concurrent-player count on Steam, according to Game Developer’s November 1, 2024 report. The comparison supports a narrower claim than the headline: it was a new high for an EA single-player game on Steam, measured by simultaneous players—not a record for sales or for every platform.
What the Steam launch comparison means
Game Developer reported that The Veilguard slightly exceeded Jedi: Survivor’s all-time Steam peak of 67,855 concurrent players. Concurrent players are the people playing at the same time; the figure is not the number of copies sold or everyone who played over a launch period.
The comparison is limited to Steam. It does not combine players on other PC storefronts or on consoles, and it does not show which game had more revenue, sales, or total players. The report described The Veilguard as EA’s biggest single-player Steam launch, but did not give an exact peak figure in its comparison text. Its headline rounds the peak to “70K,” so that rounded figure should not be treated as an exact count.
What EA had—and had not—reported about sales
At the time of Game Developer’s report, EA and BioWare had not revealed hard sales numbers for The Veilguard. A Steam concurrency peak cannot fill that gap: it measures activity on one platform at one moment, not purchases.

EA’s later Q3 FY25 filing reported $599 million in full-game net revenue for the company for the three months ended December 31, 2024. EA said several games, including The Veilguard, primarily drove that result. It is company-wide quarterly revenue, not a title-specific sales figure, and it does not establish how many copies The Veilguard sold.
Platforms and release date
EA said Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched on October 31, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, the EA app, and the Epic Games Store. EA described it as a single-player RPG in its launch announcement. BioWare had also called it a single-player game in its June 2024 title announcement.
