The ₹50 increase refers to a reported domestic LPG price rise in April 2025—not the latest household increase. Domestic prices rose by ₹60 effective March 7, 2026, while the roughly ₹49 increase on February 1, 2026 applied to commercial cylinders. IndianOil’s listed non-subsidised domestic rates for four metros were last updated June 7, 2026, so they are not verified October prices.
Which LPG price increase was ₹50?
The figure refers to an April 2025 increase for domestic cylinders, as reported retrospectively by The Indian Express in 2026. The reporting reviewed here does not establish an original April 2025 announcement, so the ₹50 figure should be described as a reported prior increase rather than a newly announced change.
Two later changes are easy to confuse with it: a ₹49 increase for commercial cylinders in Delhi on February 1, 2026, and a ₹60 increase for domestic cylinders effective March 7, 2026. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas gave the March domestic increase in a parliamentary answer.

Domestic and commercial cylinders are distinct products and are priced separately. IndianOil’s Indane price page lists domestic 14.2 kg and commercial 19 kg cylinders in separate tables.

How much is a domestic LPG cylinder in major cities?
IndianOil’s Indane table lists these non-subsidised 14.2 kg domestic prices. The table was last updated June 7, 2026; it is a dated reference, not confirmation of rates for October 2026.

For the price in your city, check the current rate with your oil marketing company before ordering. The figures above are Indane-listed prices, and the official domestic table available for this comparison does not extend through October 2026. A September 2, 2026 report said domestic prices had remained unchanged that month, but that does not establish an official October rate.

Why can household LPG prices differ from international costs?
India imports about 60% of its LPG requirement. In a January 1, 2026 release, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said: “India imports about 60% of its LPG requirement, and domestic LPG prices are therefore, linked to international prices, with Saudi CP serving as the international benchmark.”
The government also modulates the domestic consumer price. International benchmark changes therefore do not necessarily translate into an immediate, equal change in the amount every household pays.

How does Ujjwala support affect the amount a household pays?
A June 2026 Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas release describes a targeted benefit of ₹300 per cylinder for eligible Ujjwala refills. It is not a universal discount: eligibility and the applicable local rate matter. Do not subtract ₹300 from a listed retail price unless the household qualifies and the benefit applies to that refill.
Because the cited support is described for eligible Ujjwala refills, it should be considered separately from the non-subsidised city prices shown above.
