David Andrew Armstrong, professionally known as Donovan Michaels, accused his estranged husband David Geffen of withholding financial documents in their divorce to limit spousal support. That is an allegation—not a proven finding that Geffen hid assets. Later reports say the divorce settled in April 2026, but the terms were not disclosed.
What did Armstrong allege?
On October 23, 2025, TMZ reported that Armstrong accused Geffen of refusing to provide financial documents and argued that the missing information could affect spousal support. The report describes Armstrong’s allegation; it does not establish that Geffen concealed assets or violated a disclosure obligation. TMZ’s report is the basis for the accusation.
How the divorce dispute differs from Armstrong’s civil complaint
The financial-disclosure accusation arose in the divorce proceedings. Separately, Armstrong filed a civil complaint alleging oral or implied promises of lifelong financial support and equal sharing of assets, and seeking an accounting and property-related remedies. Those assertions and requests are claims in a pleading, not findings by a court. A copy of the complaint shows what Armstrong alleged and sought.
Geffen denied that any agreement existed. His attorney, Patty Glaser, told the Los Angeles Times: “There was no contract — express, written, oral, or implied — that has ever existed.” That is the defense’s position, not a judicial conclusion. The Los Angeles Times’ account covers the complaint and the denial.

What the reported support offer did—and did not—mean
TMZ reported on September 18, 2025, that a Geffen filing offered up to $50,000 per month for 12 months and sought credit for amounts Geffen said he had already paid, including cash, housing, and rehabilitation costs. Those were terms reported from a filing, not proof of a final support award or settlement. The filing should not be treated as the outcome of the divorce. TMZ’s report on the filing describes the proposal.
What is known about Geffen’s wealth?
The Los Angeles Times cited Forbes’ estimate of Geffen’s net worth as $8.8 billion — Forbes, 2025. That is an estimate of overall net worth, not a court determination of assets subject to division, nor evidence that assets were concealed.
Timeline and current status
- July 23, 2025: The Los Angeles Times reported on Armstrong’s civil complaint, Geffen’s attorney’s denial of an agreement, and Forbes’ net-worth estimate.
- September 18, 2025: TMZ reported the support proposal and request for credit for payments Geffen said he had made.
- October 23, 2025: TMZ reported Armstrong’s accusation that financial documents were being withheld to limit spousal support.
- April 2026: The Daily Beast and Complex later reported that the divorce had settled. The terms were not made public, and the reports do not establish whether the settlement addressed the disclosure accusation or how much, if anything, was paid. The Daily Beast and Complex reported the settlement status.
What remains unestablished
The available reports do not establish that Geffen hid assets, that a judge found he failed to disclose financial information, or that the support proposal became the final settlement. Because the settlement terms were not public in the cited later coverage, its financial terms and any resolution of the disclosure dispute remain unknown.
