Daniel Levy’s reported Tottenham stake sale has not been conclusively confirmed by the available sources. Bloomberg reported in January 2026 that Levy was in talks to sell his nearly 30% interest in ENIC, Tottenham Hotspur’s parent company, at a valuation of about £1 billion. In June, investor group Eight Sports Capital announced an agreement to acquire 24.99% of ENIC. But ENIC said it was unaware of a sale by Levy’s family trust, Tottenham’s ownership page still lists that trust interest, and BBC Sport has reported the sale as completed. The reports conflict, and £1 billion is not a confirmed amount paid.
What the reported £1bn deal involves
The reported transaction concerns shares in ENIC, the company that owns Tottenham Hotspur—not a direct sale of 24.99% of Tottenham Hotspur Limited. Tottenham’s shareholder information says ENIC holds 88.30% of the club’s issued ordinary share capital. A minority interest in ENIC therefore represents an indirect interest in the club, not the same percentage of direct club ownership.
Bloomberg reported on 30 January 2026 that Levy was in talks to sell his nearly 30% interest in the group owning Tottenham for about £1bn, citing people familiar with the matter. Who says the transaction happened?
The accounts differ on whether a transfer was completed. Eight Sports Capital announced on 5 June 2026 that it had signed a sale and purchase agreement to acquire a 24.99% interest in ENIC. An ENIC spokesperson responded that neither ENIC nor Tottenham was aware of a sale by Levy’s family trust. Eight Sports Capital’s announcement

Tottenham’s shareholder information, reviewed on 8 October 2026, continues to say that trusts of which Levy and certain family members are potential beneficiaries ultimately own 27.38% of ENIC. BBC Sport, by contrast, describes Levy as having sold 24.99% of ENIC to Eight Sports Capital. On the evidence available, the agreement was announced by the prospective buyer, but the completion status remains disputed. The sources do not establish a confirmed sale price or cash consideration.

How the ownership figures fit together
Tottenham’s published figures describe different levels of the ownership structure. ENIC owns most of Tottenham Hotspur Limited; trusts associated with the Levy and Lewis families are described as owning interests in ENIC. The figures below are from Tottenham’s shareholder information reviewed on 8 October 2026:

Why “Tottenham is not for sale” is not the same claim
In September 2025, amid speculation about buying the club, Tottenham’s Board and ENIC stated: “Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale.” ENIC also said it had no intention of accepting an offer for its interest. Those statements concerned a proposed sale of the club or ENIC’s controlling interest; they do not by themselves settle whether a minority interest in ENIC could later be transferred.
Tottenham announced Levy’s departure as executive chairman on 4 September 2025, after 24 years in the role. In the following weeks, the club said the Firehawk and Brooklyn Earick consortiums did not intend to make offers by the applicable October deadline. Those approaches for the club should not be conflated with the separate 2026 announcement concerning a minority interest in ENIC.
