Yes—but Cohesity did not buy all of Veritas. The companies announced a combination involving Veritas’ enterprise data protection business on February 8, 2024, and Cohesity said it completed the transaction on December 10, 2024. A later ownership change followed: Cloud Software Group acquired Arctera, a business created after the combination, on December 1, 2025.
What did Cohesity acquire from Veritas?
The deal combined Cohesity with Veritas’ enterprise data protection business, which was to be carved out of Veritas. In its completion announcement, Cohesity specifically named Veritas NetBackup, NetBackup appliances, and Alta data protection offerings as solutions covered by the combination agreement. That list identifies named offerings; it should not be read as an exhaustive inventory of every asset, legal entity, or legacy Veritas product.
So the accurate description is a combination with Veritas’ enterprise data protection business—not an acquisition of all companies or operations associated with the Veritas name.

Backup Exec, InfoScale and Insight
Cloud Software Group’s later Arctera announcements list InfoScale for data resilience, Insight for data compliance, and Backup Exec for data protection. That is a separate, subsequent ownership development. These announcements do not establish that Backup Exec, InfoScale, or Insight were part of the portfolio Cohesity named in its completion release.

The announcements cited here do not provide a complete map of every legacy Veritas business or product. Avoid treating either the Cohesity list or the Arctera list as a complete inventory of all operations once associated with Veritas.
