No reviewed reporting establishes that Blake Lively or Ryan Reynolds asked WME to drop Justin Baldoni or caused the agency’s decision. WME denied pressure from either of them. In February 2025, however, WME executive Ari Emanuel was reported to have said that he personally fired Baldoni. Those accounts can coexist: who made the decision is a separate question from whether the couple requested or brought it about.
What happened with Justin Baldoni and WME?
Baldoni left WME in late December 2024. TheWrap reported that his agent dropped him on December 21, the day The New York Times published an article about Blake Lively’s allegations. That report establishes the timing of his departure, not the reason for it: TheWrap’s December 21 report.
On January 1, 2025, WME denied that Lively or Reynolds had pressured the agency to drop Baldoni. The agency also said the representative named in Baldoni’s allegation was not at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere. TheWrap reported WME’s statement: “Baldoni’s former representative was not at the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ premiere nor was there any pressure from Reynolds or Lively at any time to drop Baldoni as a client.” TheWrap’s report of WME’s denial.
In February 2025, E! reported that WME executive Ari Emanuel said he fired Baldoni and discussed his support for Lively and Reynolds. That later account identifies Emanuel as the decision-maker, but it does not establish that Lively or Reynolds asked him to act or caused his decision: E!’s February 14 report.

What did Baldoni allege about Reynolds?
In a January 2025 lawsuit, Baldoni and Wayfarer alleged that Reynolds approached a WME executive at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere, described the agency as working with a “sexual predator,” and later demanded that the agent drop Baldoni. Those are allegations in the plaintiffs’ complaint, not established findings. WME’s denial directly disputed the claim of pressure and said the named representative was not at the premiere. The Associated Press report on the lawsuit.
What is established—and what remains unresolved?
| Question | What the reporting says |
|---|---|
| Did Baldoni leave WME? | Yes. TheWrap reported that his agent dropped him on December 21, 2024. |
| Who said he made the firing decision? | E! reported in February 2025 that Ari Emanuel said he fired Baldoni. |
| Did Lively or Reynolds request or cause the decision? | Not established by the cited reporting. WME denied pressure; Baldoni’s lawsuit alleged Reynolds pressed the agency. |
The distinction matters because a reported firing does not prove why it happened. WME’s denial is the agency’s account; Baldoni’s complaint is his side’s allegation; and Emanuel’s later reported statement concerns who made the decision. None, on its own, establishes that Lively or Reynolds requested or caused the firing.

How this fits into the broader dispute
The WME question is one part of a larger, contested dispute connected to It Ends With Us. Lively filed a complaint in December 2024 alleging harassment and retaliation; the parties have presented competing accounts. In January 2025, Baldoni and Wayfarer sued Lively and Reynolds for at least $400 million, alleging defamation and extortion. The damages amount is what the plaintiffs sought, not a finding by a court. AP’s report on Lively’s complaint and AP’s report on Baldoni and Wayfarer’s lawsuit.
The cited reports do not establish the latest status of the related lawsuits. They support a narrower conclusion about the agency dispute: Baldoni was dropped, Emanuel was later reported to have said he made that decision, and whether Lively or Reynolds requested or caused it remains unresolved in this reporting.
